Abstract

The present invention relates to an electronic document reproduction apparatus supporting a preview function upon outputting an electronic book, and a reproducing method thereof. The electronic document reproduction apparatus includes: an input/output unit for outputting contents of an electronic document and receiving a user'"'"'s instruction from a user; a storage unit for storing data of the electronic document; and a controller for searching for an output position of a corresponding electronic document according to the users instruction input through the input/output unit, and displaying the corresponding electronic document, wherein the controller receives a preview execution instruction through the input/output unit and provides a preview function for a corresponding position to the electronic document, and the controller receives a page selection instruction and sets a corresponding page as an output position.

Claims

1. An electronic document reproduction apparatus having a memory storing an electronic document, the apparatus comprising:

a display unit; and

a controller operatively connected to the display unit, the controller configured to

control the display unit to display an icon representing a volume of the electronic document;

control the apparatus to enter an electronic document preview mode in response to a touch by the user to the icon;

control the display unit to display, in the electronic document preview mode, at least a part of a page of the electronic document; and

select another page as an output page in response to a page selection instruction input by the user.

2. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to control the display unit to change, in the electronic document preview mode, a display from the page to the another page when a position of the touch to the icon is changed.

The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to control the display unit to change, in the electronic document preview mode, a display from the page to the another page in a direction and at a speed corresponding to a movement direction and a movement distance of the touch.

4. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to change, in the electronic document preview mode, a display from the page to the another page with a speed that varies in proportion to a sensed pressure of the touch.

The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to control the display unit to change, in the electronic document preview mode, a display from the page to the another page with a speed that varies in proportion to a sensed height of the touch.

6. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein controller is configured to control the display unit to change, in the electronic document preview mode, a display from the page to the another page in a direction corresponding to a movement direction of the touch.

7. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to instruct the preview mode to be released, and to control the display unit to display the another page on the display unit in a non-preview mode.

8. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to control the display unit to display the another page with a changed shadow.

9. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to control the display unit display a position indication icon indicating a position of the another page in the electronic document.

10. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to control the display unit to display only a partial content of the another page.

11. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 10, wherein the controller is configured to control the display unit to display one of an image and a table as the partial content.

12. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:

a speaker operatively connected to the controller, the controller configured to output via the speaker, in the preview mode, sound signals corresponding to a page movement, a preview mode release, and a page selection.

13. An electronic document reproduction apparatus having a memory storing an electronic document, the apparatus comprising:

a display unit;

an input unit including a jog dial; and

a controller operatively connected to the display unit and the input unit, the controller configured to

control the apparatus to enter an electronic document preview mode in response to a user input;

control the display unit to display at least a part of a page of the electronic document;

change from the page to another page in a direction and speed corresponding to a rotation direction and rotation amount of the jog dial; and

select the another page as an output page to be displayed in a non-preview mode in response to a page selection instruction input by the user.

14. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 13, wherein the controller is configured to instruct the preview mode to be released, and to control the display unit to display the another page on the display unit in a non-preview mode.

15. An electronic document reproduction apparatus having a memory storing an electronic document, the apparatus comprising:

a display unit;

a sensing unit configured to sense an incline direction and an incline angle of the apparatus relative to a plane and to output a corresponding incline signal; and

a controller operatively connected to the display unit and the sensing unit, the controller configured to

control the apparatus to enter an electronic document preview mode in response to a user input;

control the display unit to display at least a part of a page of the electronic document;

change to another page in response to the incline signal, by determining a page change direction and a page change speed according to the sensed incline direction and the sensed incline angle of the electronic document reproduction apparatus; and

select the another page as an output page to be displayed in a non-preview mode in response to a page selection instruction input by the user.

16. The electronic document reproduction apparatus as claimed in claim 15, wherein the controller is configured to instruct the preview mode to be released, and to display the another page on the display unit in a non-preview mode.

17. A method for reproducing an electronic document by an electronic document reproduction apparatus which outputs electronic document data through a display device, the method comprising the steps of:

displaying an icon representing a volume of the electronic document;

entering an electronic document preview mode in response to a touch by the user to the icon;

displaying, in the electronic document preview mode, at least a part of a page of the electronic document; and

selecting another page as an output page in response to a page selection instruction input by the user.

18. The method as claimed in claim 17, further comprising:

changing, in the electronic document preview mode, a display from the page to the another page when a position of the touch to the icon is changed.

19. The method as claimed in claim 17, the step of changing comprising:

changing, in the electronic document preview mode, a display from the page to the another page in a direction and at a speed corresponding to a movement direction and a movement distance of the touch.

20. The method as claimed in claim 17, further comprising:

changing, in the electronic document preview mode, a display from the page to the another page with a speed that varies in proportion to a sensed pressure of the touch.

21. The method as claimed in claim 17, further comprising:

changing, in the electronic document preview mode, a display from the page to the another page with a speed that varies in proportion to a sensed height of the touch.

22. The method as claimed in claim 17, further comprising:

changing, in the electronic document preview mode, a display from the page to the another page in a direction corresponding to a movement direction of the touch.

23. The method as claimed in claim 17, wherein the step of selecting another page as an output page comprises:

instructing the preview mode to be released, and

displaying the another page in a non-preview mode.

24. The method as claimed in claim 18, the step of changing comprising:

displaying the another page with a changed shadow.

25. The method as claimed in claim 18, the step of changing comprising:

displaying a position indication icon indicating a position of the another page in the electronic document.

26. The method as claimed in claim 18, the step of changing comprising:

displaying only a partial content of the another page.

27. The method as claimed in claim 26, wherein the step of displaying only a partial content comprises:

displaying one of an image and a table.

28. The method as claimed in claim 17, further comprising:

outputting, in the preview mode, sound signals corresponding to a page movement, a preview mode release, and a page selection.

29. A method for reproducing an electronic document by an electronic document reproduction apparatus which outputs electronic document data through a display device, the method comprising the steps of:

entering an electronic document preview mode in response to a user input;

displaying at least a part of a page of the electronic document;

changing from the page to another page in a direction and speed corresponding to a rotation direction and rotation amount of a jog dial; and

selecting the another page as an output page to be displayed in a non-preview mode in response to a page selection instruction input by the user.

30. The method as claimed in claim 29, the step of selecting comprising:

instructing the preview mode to be released in response to a press to the jog dial; and

displaying the another page in the non-preview mode.

31. A method for reproducing an electronic document by an electronic document reproduction apparatus which outputs electronic document data through a display device, the method comprising the steps of:

entering an electronic document preview mode in response to a user input;

displaying at least a part of a page of the electronic document;

changing to another page in response to a sensed inclination of the electronic document reproduction apparatus, wherein the step of changing includes determining a page change direction and a page change speed according to a sensed incline direction and a sensed incline angle of the electronic document reproduction apparatus; and

selecting the another page as an output page to be displayed in a non-preview mode in response to a page selection instruction input by the user.

32. The method as claimed in claim 31, the step of selecting comprising:

instructing the preview mode to be released, and

displaying the another page in the non-preview mode.
