Abstract

The present invention is directed to community based managed health kiosk and remote diagnosis systems, and more particularly to facilitating remote diagnosis of kiosk users by remotely located health care professionals through use of kiosk systems in combination with user-data screens that display real-time user health information and real-time user video to the health care professional. The remotely located health care professional is thus able to fully examine and diagnosis a patient without having to ever be on-site or even nearby.

Claims

1. A remote diagnosis system, comprising:

a kiosk system including two or more input devices receiving one or more pieces of health information and one or more pieces of personal identification information from the user, a video camera receiving a video image of the user, a microphone receiving a user voice communication from the user, and a network connection securely transmitting the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, the video image, and the user voice communication to a remotely located health care professional and receiving a health care professional communication from a remotely located health care professional.

2. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a real time blood pressure reading.

3. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a body temperature, a heart rate, a blood pressure reading, and respiratory rate.

4. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a blood oxygen saturation measurement, a blood glucose measurement, a weight measurement.

5. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user, a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter, a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement and a heart rate measurement from the user, and a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement, the one or more blood glucose measurements, the blood pressure measurement, the heart rate measurement, and the weight measurement.

6. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a body temperature at a particular time, a heart rate at a particular time, a blood pressure at a particular time, and a respiratory rate at a particular time.

The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user and a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement and the one or more blood glucose measurements.

The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user and a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement from the user and a heart rate measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement, the blood pressure measurement, and the heart rate measurement.

The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user and a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement and the weight measurement.

10. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user and a temperature sensor receiving a body temperature from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement and the body temperature.

The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter and a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement from the user and a heart rate measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the one or more blood glucose measurements, the blood pressure measurement, and the heart rate measurement.

The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter and a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the one or more blood glucose measurements and the weight measurement.

The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter and a temperature sensor receiving a body temperature from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the one or more blood glucose measurements and the body temperature.

14. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement from the user and a heart rate measurement from the user and a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood pressure measurement, the heart rate measurement, and the weight measurement.

The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement from the user and a heart rate measurement from the user and a temperature sensor receiving a body temperature from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood pressure measurement, the heart rate measurement, and the body temperature.

16. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the two or more input devices include a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user and a temperature sensor receiving a body temperature from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the weight measurement and the body temperature.

17. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the kiosk system further includes a privacy curtain providing privacy to the user.

18. The system as recited in claim 17, wherein the privacy curtain automatically closes around the user when the kiosk system receives an indication that the user has engaged the kiosk system.

19. The system as recited in claim 17, wherein the privacy curtain closes around the user when the kiosk system receives a command from the user to close the privacy curtain.

20. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the kiosk system further includes a third-party display screen located on an exterior of the kiosk system facilitating privacy for the user by providing a counterpoint visual and audio stimulus to a non-user located outside of the kiosk, the third-party display screen including a monitor displaying images and video and one or more speakers emitting audio.

The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the health care professional communication includes a voice communication of a health care professional and a video image of'"'"''"'"'the health care professional, wherein the kiosk system further includes a display system receiving and displaying the video image of the health care professional to the user and a speaker receiving and playing the voice communication of the health care professional to the user to facilitate the health care professional'"'"'s remote diagnosis of the user.

22. The system as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

a user-data screen system remotely located from the kiosk system including a second network connection receiving the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, the video image, and the voice communication from the user, a user-data display screen displaying the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, and the video image to the remotely located health care professional, a health care professional speaker emitting the user voice communication, and a health care professional microphone receiving the health care professional communication, the second network connection further transmitting the health care professional communication to the kiosk system.

23. The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the user-data display screen simultaneously displays the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, and the video image.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a first piece of health information and a second piece of health information, and wherein the user-data display screen simultaneously displays the first piece of health information and the second piece of health information.

25. The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a real time blood pressure reading.

26. The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a body temperature, a heart rate, a blood pressure reading, and respiratory rate.

27. The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a blood oxygen saturation measurement, a blood glucose measurement, a weight measurement.

28. The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user, a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter, a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement and a heart rate measurement from the user, and a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement, the one or more blood glucose measurements, the blood pressure measurement, the heart rate measurement, and the weight measurement.

29. The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a body temperature at a particular time, a heart rate at a particular time, a blood pressure at a particular time, and a respiratory rate at a particular time.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user and a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement and the one or more blood glucose measurements.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user and a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement from the user and a heart rate measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement, the blood pressure measurement, and the heart rate measurement.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user and a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement and the weight measurement.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user and a temperature sensor receiving a body temperature from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement and the body temperature.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter and a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement from the user and a heart rate measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the one or more blood glucose measurements, the blood pressure measurement, and the heart rate measurement.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter and a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the one or more blood glucose measurements and the weight measurement.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter and a temperature sensor receiving a body temperature from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the one or more blood glucose measurements and the body temperature.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement from the user and a heart rate measurement from the user and a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood pressure measurement, the heart rate measurement, and the weight measurement.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement from the user and a heart rate measurement from the user and a temperature sensor receiving a body temperature from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood pressure measurement, the heart rate measurement, and the body temperature.

The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the two or more input devices include a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user and a temperature sensor receiving a body temperature from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the weight measurement and the body temperature.

40. The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the kiosk system further includes a privacy curtain providing privacy to the user.

41. The system as recited in claim 40, wherein the privacy curtain automatically closes around the user when the kiosk system receives an indication that the user has engaged the kiosk system.

42. The system as recited in claim 40, wherein the privacy curtain closes around the user when the kiosk system receives a command from the user to close the privacy curtain.

43. The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the kiosk system further includes a third-party display screen located on an exterior of the kiosk system facilitating privacy for the user by providing a counterpoint visual and audio stimulus to a non-user located outside of the kiosk, the third-party display screen including a monitor displaying images and video and one or more speakers emitting audio.

44. The system as recited in claim 22, wherein the health care professional communication includes a voice communication of a health care professional and a video image of the health care professional, wherein the kiosk system further includes a display system receiving and displaying the video image of the health care professional to the user and a speaker receiving and playing the voice communication of the health care professional to the user to facilitate the health care professional'"'"'s remote diagnosis of the user.

45. A method of remote diagnosis, comprising the steps of:

receiving one or more pieces of health information from the user through a kiosk system equipped with a display, a video camera, a microphone, a user speaker, and two or more input devices;

receiving one or more pieces of personal identification information from the user through the two or more input devices;

receiving a video image of the user through the video camera;

receiving a user voice communication through the microphone;

transmitting the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, the video image, and the user voice communication over a secure network to a user-data screen system remotely located from the kiosk system, the user-data screen system equipped with a user-data display screen, a health care professional microphone, and a health care professional speaker;

displaying the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, and the video image to a health care professional on the user-data display screen;

emitting the user voice communication to the health care professional through the health care professional speaker;

receiving a health care professional voice communication from the health care professional through the health care professional microphone;

transmitting the health care professional voice communication over the secure network to the kiosk system; and

emitting the health care professional voice communication to the user through the user speaker, wherein the health care professional utilizes the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, the video image, and the user voice communication in response to the health care professional voice communication to assess the user'"'"'s health and remotely diagnose the user.

46. The method as recited in claim 45, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a real time blood pressure reading.

47. The method as recited in claim 45, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a body temperature, a heart rate, a blood pressure reading, and respiratory rate.

48. The method as recited in claim 45, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a blood oxygen saturation measurement, a blood glucose measurement, a weight measurement.

The method as recited in claim 45, wherein the two or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user, a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter, a blood pressure cuff test interface receiving a blood pressure measurement and a heart rate measurement from the user, and a weight-scale user seat apparatus receiving a weight measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement, the one or more blood glucose measurements, the blood pressure measurement, the heart rate measurement, and the weight measurement.

50. The method as recited in claim 45, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a body temperature at a particular time, a heart rate at a particular time, a blood pressure at a particular time, and a respiratory rate at a particular time.

51. The method as recited in claim 45, wherein the user-data screen system is further equipped with a health care professional video camera, and further comprising the steps of:

receiving a health care professional video image of the health care professional through the health care professional video camera;

transmitting the health care professional video image over the secure network to the kiosk system; and

displaying the health care professional video image to the user on the display.

52. A method of remote diagnosis, comprising the steps of:

receiving one or more pieces of health information from the user through a kiosk system equipped with a display, a video camera, a microphone, a user speaker, and two or more input devices;

receiving one or more pieces of personal identification information from the user through the two or more input devices;

receiving a video image of the user through the video camera;

receiving a user voice communication through the microphone;

transmitting the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, the video image, and the user voice communication over a secure network to a user-data screen system remotely located from the kiosk system, the user-data screen system equipped with a user-data display screen, a health care professional microphone, a health care professional speaker, and one or more health care professional input devices;

storing the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, and the video image at the user-data display screen system;

emitting the user voice communication to the health care professional through the health care professional speaker;

receiving a display data selection from the health care professional through the one or more health care professional input devices;

displaying one or more of the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, and the video image based upon the display data selection;

receiving a health care professional voice communication from the health care professional through the health care professional microphone;

transmitting the health care professional voice communication over the secure network to the kiosk system; and

emitting the health care professional voice communication to the user through the user speaker, wherein the health care professional utilizes the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, the video image, the display data selection, and the user voice communication in response to the health care professional voice communication to assess the user'"'"'s health and remotely diagnose the user.

53. The method as recited in claim 52, wherein the user-data screen system is further equipped with a health care professional video camera, and further comprising the steps of:

receiving a health care professional video image of the health care professional through the health care professional video camera;

transmitting the health care professional video image over the secure network to the kiosk system; and

displaying the health care professional video image to the user on the display.
