Abstract

The present invention is directed to community based managed health kiosk systems for recording and analyzing individual user'"'"'s health-related data in various locations throughout a community. The disclosed kiosk systems collect health data from a user to create and transmit a personal health record and to facilitate communication of the health data to remotely located health care professionals and researchers.

Claims

1. A community-based managed health system, comprising:

a kiosk system including three or more input devices receiving one or more pieces of health information and one or more pieces of personal identification information from the user, a display screen displaying a set of health data to the user, and a network connection transmitting the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information;

a storage system receiving the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information from the kiosk system and storing the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information in a personal health record corresponding to the user; and

a network communicatively coupling the network connection of the kiosk system to the storage system.

2. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a blood pressure reading, a weight measure, a heart rate, and a pulse oximetry reading.

3. The system as recited in claim 2, wherein the one or more pieces of health information further include a spirometry reading, a resting metabolic rate and a glucose reading.

4. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the set of health data includes a plurality of health assessment questions, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information are included in a plurality of answers elicited from the user in response to the plurality of health assessment questions.

5. The system as recited in claim 4, wherein the plurality of health assessment questions include a packaged health risk assessment question set.

6. The system as recited in claim 4, wherein the plurality of health assessment questions include a PHQ-9 assessment test.

7. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include one or more identity verification devices.

8. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include one or more control devices.

9. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include one or more medical diagnostic devices.

10. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the set of health data is stored in the storage system and includes one or more health information screens.

11. The system as recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more health information screens include one or more drug interaction warnings.

12. The system as recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more health information screens include one or more drug use directions.

13. The system as recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more health information screens include one or more drug active ingredient listings.

14. The system as recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more health information screens include one or more preventative health videos.

15. The system as recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more health information screens include one or more health living practice videos.

16. The system as recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more health information screens include one or more community health care provider directories.

17. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the set of health data is provided by a remotely located website coupled to the network connection of the kiosk system through the network.

18. The system as recited in claim 17, wherein the remotely located website includes one or more drug interactions warnings.

19. The system as recited in claim 17, wherein the remotely located website includes one or more drug use directions.

20. The system as recited in claim 17, wherein the remotely located website includes one or more drug active ingredient listings.

21. The system as recited in claim 17, wherein the remotely located website includes one or more preventative health videos.

22. The system as recited in claim 17, wherein the remotely located website includes one or more health living practice videos.

23. The system as recited in claim 17, wherein the remotely located website includes one or more community health care provider directories.

24. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the kiosk system further includes a translator that converts the set of health data from a first language to a second language.

25. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the kiosk system further includes a translator that converts the one or more pieces of personal identification information from a first language to a second language.

26. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the display screen displays the personal health record from the storage system to the user.

27. The system as recited in claim 26, wherein the kiosk system further includes a translator that converts the personal health record from a first language to a second language prior to display of the personal health record on the display screen.

28. The system as recited in claim 26, wherein the three or more input devices further receive one or more edits from the user to the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information stored in the personal health record.

29. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the display screen displays one or more pieces of general survey information to the user, wherein the three or more input devices further receive one or more responses from the user to the one or more pieces of general survey information, wherein the network connection transmits the one or more responses, and wherein the storage system stores the one or more responses and makes the one or more responses available to one or more authorized entities.

30. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the network is wireless.

31. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include one or more user vital signs.

32. The system as recited in claim 31, wherein the one or more user vital signs include a body temperature, a heart rate, a blood pressure, and a respiratory rate.

33. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the kiosk system further includes a speaker, wherein the three or more input devices include a microphone receiving a user voice communication from the user, the speaker transmitting a health information audio recording in response to the user voice communication.

34. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include a card reader receiving one or more pieces of card information.

35. The system as recited in claim 34, wherein the one or more pieces of card information include a previously created personal health record that is transmitted by the network connection to the storage system and stored as the personal health record.

36. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include a pulse oximeter receiving a blood oxygen saturation measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood oxygen saturation measurement.

37. The system as recited in claim 36, wherein the pulse oximeter is further receiving a skin blood volume measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the skin blood volume measurement.

38. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include a blood glucose meter port receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from a user'"'"'s blood glucose meter, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the one or more blood glucose measurements.

39. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include a blood glucose meter receiving one or more blood glucose measurements from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the one or more blood glucose measurements.

40. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include a blood pressure monitor receiving a blood pressure measurement and a heart rate measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood pressure measurement and the heart rate measurement.

41. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include a blood pressure monitor receiving a blood pressure measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the blood pressure measurement.

42. The system as recited in claim 41, wherein receiving a blood pressure measurement is based on an auscultatory reading, an oscillometric reading, and a pattern recognition reading.

43. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include a weight-scale receiving a weight measurement from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the weight measurement.

44. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include a scanner receiving one or more user medical forms from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of health information include the one or more medical forms.

45. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the three or more input devices include a scanner receiving one or more documents from the user, and wherein the one or more pieces of personal identification information include the one or more documents.

46. The system as recited in claim 1, wherein the kiosk system further includes a privacy curtain enclosing the user within the kiosk system during use of the kiosk system.

47. A community-based managed health system, comprising:

a kiosk system including three or more input devices receiving one or more pieces of health information and one or more pieces of personal identification information from the user, a display screen displaying a set of health data to the user, an invasive testing system receiving one or more pieces of invasive testing information from a user, and a network connection transmitting the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information and the one or more pieces of invasive testing information;

a storage system receiving the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, and the one or more pieces of invasive testing information from the kiosk system and storing the one or more pieces of health information, the one or more pieces of personal identification information, and the one or more pieces of invasive testing information in a personal health record corresponding to the user; and

a network communicatively coupling the network connection of the kiosk system to the storage system.

48. The system as recited in claim 47, wherein the one or more pieces of invasive testing information are collected from one or more invasive tests of the user administered by a licensed health care professional.

49. The system as recited in claim 47, wherein the one or more invasive tests include a blood test.

50. The system as recited in claim 47, wherein the one or more invasive test include a urine test.

51. A community-based managed health system, comprising:

a kiosk system including three or more input devices receiving one or more pieces of health information and one or more pieces of personal identification information from a user, a display screen displaying a set of health data to the user, a network connection transmitting the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information to a remotely located health care professional and receiving a health care professional communication directed to the user;

a storage system receiving the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information from the kiosk system and storing the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information in a personal health record; and

a network communicatively coupling the network connection of the kiosk system to the storage system.

The system as recited in claim 51, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a blood pressure reading, a weight measurement, a heart rate, and a pulse oximetry reading, and wherein the health care professional communication is based on the blood pressure reading, the weight measurement, the heart rate, and the pulse oximetry reading.

The system as recited in claim 52, wherein the one or more pieces of health information further include a spirometry reading, a resting metabolic rate and a glucose reading, and wherein the health care professional communication is further based on the spirometry reading, the resting metabolic rate and the glucose reading.

54. The system as recited in claim 51, wherein the set of health data includes a plurality of health assessment questions, wherein the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information are included in a plurality of answers elicited from the user in response to the plurality of health assessment questions, and wherein the health care professional communication is based on the plurality of answers.

55. The system as recited in claim 54, wherein the plurality of health assessment questions include a packaged health risk assessment question set.

56. The system as recited in claim 54, wherein the plurality of health assessment questions include a PHQ-9 assessment test.

57. The system as recited in claim 51, wherein the three or more input devices include one or more identity verification devices.

58. The system as recited in claim 51, wherein the three or more input devices include one or more control devices.

59. The system as recited in claim 51, wherein the three or more input devices include one or more medical diagnostic devices.

60. The system as recited in claim 51, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include one or more user vital signs, and wherein the health care professional communication is based on the vital signs.

61. A community-based managed health system, comprising:

a kiosk system including three or more input devices receiving one or more pieces of health information and one or more pieces of personal identification information from a user, and a network connection transmitting the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information;

a storage system receiving the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information from the kiosk system and storing the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information in a personal health record corresponding to the user;

a remote monitoring system including one or more health care professional input devices receiving the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification information, and a display screen displaying the one or more pieces of health information and the one or more pieces of personal identification to a health care professional; and

a network communicatively coupling the network connection of the kiosk system to the storage system and the remote monitoring system.

The system as recited in claim 61, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include a blood pressure reading, a weight measurement, a heart rate, and a pulse oximetry reading, and wherein the remote monitoring system transmits a health care professional communication from the health care professional to the user through the kiosk system based on the blood pressure reading, the weight measurement, the heart rate, and the pulse oximetry reading.

The system as recited in claim 62, wherein the one or more pieces of health information further include a spirometry reading, a resting metabolic rate and a glucose reading, and wherein the remote monitoring system transmits the health care professional communication from the health care professional to the user through the kiosk system further based on the spirometry reading, the resting metabolic rate and the glucose reading.

The system as recited in claim 61, wherein the three or more input devices include one or more identity verification devices, and wherein the remote monitoring system transmits a health care professional communication from the health care professional to the user through the kiosk system based on the one or more pieces of personal identification information.

The system as recited in claim 61, wherein the three or more input devices include one or more control devices, and wherein the remote monitoring system transmits a health care professional communication from the health care professional to the user through the kiosk system based on the one or more pieces of health care information generated by the one or more control devices.

The system as recited in claim 61, wherein the three or more input devices include one or more medical diagnostic devices, and wherein the remote monitoring system transmits a health care professional communication from the health care professional to the user through the kiosk system based on the one or more pieces of health care information generated by the one or more diagnostic devices.

The system as recited in claim 61, wherein the one or more pieces of health information include one or more user vital signs, and wherein the remote monitoring system transmits a health care professional communication from the health care professional to the user through the kiosk system based on the vital signs.
