1. A graphical user interface, comprising:

a scroll area displaying search results; and

a permanently displayed anchored area.

2. The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes a search box.

3. The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes advertisements.

4. The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes announcements.

5. The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes news reports.

6. The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes content relevant to a user.

7. The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes pagination controls.

8. The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes column controls.

9. The graphical user interface of claim 1 wherein the anchored area includes textual summary length controls.
