Abstract

A conductive ink includes metallic nanoparticles, a polymeric dispersant, and a solvent. The polymeric dispersant may be ionic, non-ionic, or any combination of ionic and non-ionic polymeric dispersants. The solvent may include water, an organic solvent, or any combination thereof. The conductive ink may include a stabilizing agent, an adhesion promoter, a surface tension modifier, a defoaming agent, a leveling additive, a rheology modifier, a wetting agent, an ionic strength modifier, or any combination thereof.

Claims

1. A conductive ink comprising:

metallic nanoparticles;

a polymeric dispersant; and

a solvent.

2. The ink of claim 1, wherein the polymeric dispersant is non-ionic.

3. The ink of claim 1, wherein the polymeric dispersant is ionic.

4. The ink of claim 1, wherein the polymeric dispersant comprises a non-ionic polymeric dispersant and an ionic polymeric dispersant.

5. The ink of claim 1, wherein the boiling point of the polymeric dispersant is less than about 150°

C.

6. The ink of claim 1, wherein the boiling point of the solvent is less than about 150°

C.

7. The ink of claim 1, further comprising an adhesion promoter.

8. The ink of claim 1, further comprising a surface tension modifier.

9. The ink of claim 1, further comprising a defoaming agent.

10. The ink of claim 1, further comprising a leveling additive.

11. The ink of claim 1, further comprising a rheology modifier.

12. The ink of claim 1, further comprising an ionic strength modifier.

13. The ink of claim 1, wherein the metallic nanoparticles comprise about 10 wt % to about 60 wt % of the ink.

14. The ink of claim 1, wherein the polymeric dispersant comprises about 0.5 wt % to about 20 wt % of the ink.

15. The ink of claim 1, wherein the ink is curable to form a film with a resistivity of less than about 200 μ

16. A conductive ink comprising:

about 15 wt % to about 65 wt % copper nanoparticles;

a vehicle comprising about 10 wt % to about 50 wt % alcohol and about 50 wt % to about 80 wt % water; and

a dispersant.

17. The ink of claim 16, wherein the dispersant is selected from the group consisting of amines, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyethylene glycol, isostearyl ethylimidazolinium ethosulfate, oleyl ethylimidazolinium ethosulfate, and any combination thereof.

18. The ink of claim 16, wherein the dispersant is selected from the group consisting of phosphoric acid modified phosphate polyester copolymers, sulfonated styrene maleic anhydride esters, and any combination thereof.

19. The ink of claim 16, wherein the vehicle comprises:

about 10 wt % to about 50 wt % water;

about 40 wt % to about 60 wt % cyclohexanol; and

an amount of isopropanol such that a ratio of water to isopropanol is between about 1;

20. The ink of claim 16, wherein the vehicle comprises:

about 10 wt % to about 30 wt % water;

about 20 wt % to about 80 wt % isobutanol; and

an amount of isopropanol such that a ratio of water to isopropanol is between about 1;
