generating a first identifier representing a type of the main data, and packet information corresponding to information on other packets that will have a same identifier as the first identifier; and
adding the first identifier and the packet information to the at least a portion of the main data to generate the packet.

Abstract
A method and apparatus for generating and processing a packet are provided. In the method of processing a packet, a packet including main data, an identifier representing the type of the main data, and packet information corresponding to information on other packets that will have the same identifier as the identifier is received, the identifier and the packet information are extracted from the received packet, and the main data is selectively extracted from the packet based on the extracted identifier.

receiving a plurality of packets; receiving a control signal that requests an output of main data; extracting from a first packet an identifier indicating a type of a payload of the first packet, and packet information indicating information on first other packets having a same identifier as the identifier of the first packet; outputting the main data by decoding the payload of the first packet and payloads of the first other packets based on the identifier and the packet information of the first packet, if the identifier of the first packet corresponds to the control signal; extracting from a second packet an identifier indicating a type of a payload of the second packet, and packet information indicating information on second other packets having a same identifier as the identifier of the second packet; discarding the second packet and the second other packets based on the identifier and the packet information of the second packet, if the identifier of the second packet does not correspond to the control signal. - View Dependent Claims (23, 24, 25, 26)

27. An apparatus for processing a packet, comprising:

a receiver that receives a plurality of packets; a controller that generates a control signal requesting an output of main data; an extractor from a first packet an identifier indicating a type of a payload of the first packet, and packet information indicating information on first other packets having a same identifier as the identifier of the first packet; a decoder that outputs the main data by decoding the payload of the first packet and payloads of the first other packets based on the identifier and the packet information of the first packet, if the identifier of the first packet corresponds to the control signal; wherein the extractor extracts from a second packet an identifier indicating a type of a payload of the second packet, and packet information indicating information on second other packets having a same identifier as the identifier of the second packet, and the extractor discards the second packet and the second other packets based on the identifier and the packet information of the second packet, if the identifier of the second packet does not correspond to the control signal. - View Dependent Claims (28, 29, 30, 31)
