Abstract

The present invention relates to communicating control information in a mobile communication system, wherein the control information of a mobile terminal for scheduling an uplink channel may be notified to a network more quickly with less power. The present invention comprises transmitting a data block on a first physical channel, wherein the data block comprises control information, and transmitting an indicator having a specific value on a second physical channel for indicating the transmission of the control information on the first physical channel.

45. A method for transmitting control information from a user equipment to a network in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting a data block on a physical data channel, the data block including control information without user data, wherein the control information includes at least information associated with buffer status of the user equipment or information associated with power usable by the user equipment; and

transmitting an indicator having a specific value on a physical control channel to indicate the transmission of the data block.

46. The method of claim 45, wherein the indicator is mapped to a size of the data block.

47. The method of claim 45, wherein the control information comprises at least highest priority logical channel identifier, total enhanced uplink dedicated channel (E-DCH) buffer status, highest priority logical channel buffer status or mobile terminal power headroom.

48. The method of claim 45, wherein the specific value is a predefined value among a plurality of indicators, each of the plurality of indicators associated with a size of a corresponding data block.

49. A method for transmitting scheduling information from a user equipment to a network in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

determining whether the transmission of scheduling information is triggered;

generating a data block which includes the scheduling information when the transmission of scheduling information is triggered, the data block including the scheduling information only without user data;

transmitting the generated data block on a physical data channel to the network; and

transmitting an indicator on a physical control channel to the network, the indicator indicating a size of the data block.

50. The method of claim 49, wherein the scheduling information comprises at least highest priority logical channel identifier, total enhanced uplink dedicated channel (E-DCH) buffer status, highest priority logical channel buffer status or mobile terminal power headroom.

51. The method of claim 49, wherein the indicator is a predefined value among a plurality of indicators, each of the plurality of indicators associated with a size of a corresponding data block.

52. The method of claim 49, wherein the scheduling information includes information associated with buffer status of the user equipment.

53. The method of claim 49, wherein the scheduling information includes information associated with power usable by the user equipment.

54. A method for transmitting scheduling information from a user equipment to a network in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting a Medium Access Control (MAC)-e protocol data unit (PDU) on an enhanced dedicated physical data channel (E-DPDCH), wherein the MAC-e PDU comprises scheduling information without user data; and

transmitting an enhanced uplink dedicated channel (E-DCH) transport format combination indicator (E-TFCI) having a specific value on an enhanced dedicated physical control channel (E-DPCCH), wherein the specific value is a predefined value among a plurality of E-TFCIs, each of the plurality of E-TFCIs associated with a size of a corresponding MAC-e PDU.

55. The method of claim 54, wherein the specific value is an E-TFCI index equaling zero.

56. The method of claim 54, wherein the scheduling information comprises at least highest priority logical channel identifier, total E-DCH buffer status, highest priority logical channel buffer status or mobile terminal power headroom.

57. The method of claim 54, wherein the scheduling information includes information associated with buffer status of the user equipment.

58. The method of claim 54, wherein the scheduling information includes information associated with power usable by the user equipment.

59. The method of claim 54, wherein the scheduling information includes information associated with a highest priority logical channel.

60. A method for transmitting scheduling information from a user equipment to a network in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

transmitting a first Medium Access Control (MAC)-e protocol data unit (PDU) on an enhanced dedicated physical data channel (E-DPDCH), wherein the first MAC-e PDU comprises scheduling information and user data;

transmitting a first enhanced uplink dedicated channel (E-DCH) transport format combination indicator (E-TFCI) having a first value on an enhanced dedicated physical control channel (E-DPCCH);

transmitting a second MAC-e protocol data unit (PDU) on the enhanced dedicated physical data channel (E-DPDCH), wherein the second MAC-e PDU comprises scheduling information without user data; and

transmitting a second E-TFCI having a second value on the enhanced dedicated physical control channel (E-DPCCH),

wherein the first and second values are selected among a plurality of predefined E-TFCIs, each of the plurality of E-TFCIs associated with a size of a corresponding MAC-e PDU.

61. The method of claim 60, wherein the scheduling information comprises at least highest priority logical channel identifier, total E-DCH buffer status, highest priority logical channel buffer status or mobile terminal power headroom.

62. The method of claim 60, wherein the scheduling information includes information associated with buffer status of the user equipment.

63. The method of claim 60, wherein the scheduling information includes information associated with power usable by the user equipment.

64. The method of claim 60, wherein the scheduling information includes information associated with a highest priority logical channel.
