Abstract

A system, method, and computer readable medium for processing a call setup in a network system are provided. A femtocell system receives a call origination from a user equipment located within a service area of the femtocell system and performs a service connection with the user equipment. The femtocell system creates a connection for an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem core network, transmits an INVITE message to a called telephone device via the Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem, and completes the call setup between the user equipment and the called telephone device.

Claims

9. A computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions for execution by a processing system, the computer-executable instructions for processing a call setup in a network system, the computer-readable medium comprising instructions that:

receive a call origination from a user equipment located within a service area of a femtocell system;

perform a service connection with the user equipment including transmitting a configuration management service request to a Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter of the femtocell system;

create a connection for an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem core network;

transmit an INVITE message to a called telephone device via the Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem; and

complete the call setup between the user equipment and the called telephone device.

1. A method of processing a call setup in a network system, comprising:

receiving, by a femtocell system, a call origination from a user equipment located within a service area of the femtocell system;

performing, by the femtocell system, a service connection with the user equipment;

creating, by the femtocell system, a connection for an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem core network;

transmitting an INVITE message to a called telephone device via the Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem; and

completing the call setup between the user equipment and the called telephone device.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising transmitting, by a base transceiver station of the femtocell system, a configuration management service request to a Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter of the femtocell system.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising receiving, by the base transceiver station from the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System, an assignment request.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising transmitting, by the base transceiver station, a channel assignment to the user equipment.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising transmitting, by a Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter of the femtocell system, a bearer request to a base transceiver station of the femtocell system.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving, by a Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter of the femtocell system from the Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem core network, a ringing indication.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising transmitting a ringback tone from a transcoder of the femtocell system to a base transceiver station of the femtocell system.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising transmitting, by the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter, a modify connection message to the transcoder.

10. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, further comprising instructions that receive an assignment request.

11. The computer-readable medium of claim 10, further comprising instructions that transmit a channel assignment to the user equipment.

12. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, further comprising instructions that transmit a bearer request to a base transceiver station of the femtocell system.

13. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, further comprising instructions that receive from the Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem core network a ringing indication.

14. The computer-readable medium of claim 13, further comprising instructions that transmit a ringback tone to a base transceiver station of the femtocell system.

15. The computer-readable medium of claim 14, further comprising instructions that transmit a modify connection message to a transcoder of the femtocell system.

16. A system configured for call processing in a network system, comprising:

a packet-switched network;

an Internet Protocol Multimedia subsystem communicatively coupled with the packet-switched network; and

a femtocell system communicatively coupled with the packet-switched network, wherein the femtocell system includes a base transceiver station, a transcoder, and a Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter, wherein the femtocell system receives a call origination from a user equipment located within a service area of a femtocell system, performs a service connection with the user equipment including transmitting a configuration management service request to the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter, creates a connection for the Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem, transmits an INVITE message to a called telephone device via the Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem, and completes the call setup between the user equipment and the called telephone device.

17. The system of claim 15, wherein the base transceiver station transmits a channel assignment to the user equipment.

18. The system of claim 15, wherein the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter transmits a bearer request to the base transceiver station.

19. The system of claim 15, wherein the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter receives a ringing indication from the Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein a ringback tone is transmitted from the transcoder to the base transceiver station.

16-1. The system of claim 15, wherein the base transceiver station receives an assignment request from the Session Initiation Protocol to Internet Operating System adapter.
