Abstract

A method may include receiving a call having call data, determining that the call data cannot be forwarded along a call path, assigning an identifier to the call data, forwarding the call along the call path without the call data, and storing the call data and the identifier at a device outside the call path.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

receiving a call having call data;

determining that the call data cannot be forwarded along a call path;

assigning an identifier to the call data;

forwarding the call along the call path without the call data; and

storing the call data and the identifier at a device outside the call path.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

retrieving the call data based on the identifier at a downstream device along the call path.

3. The method of claim 1, where the identifier is a unique identifier.

4. The method of claim 1, where the identifier includes an automatic number identification (ANI) and a dialed number identification service (DNIS) associated with the call.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

selecting from a DNIS pool of DNIS numbers; and

assigning a new DNIS for the call based on the DNIS numbers in the DNIS pool.

6. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

selecting from a pool of attachment numbers; and

generating a new identifier that includes the DNIS and a selected attachment number.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing the call data to a device along the call path.

8. The method of claim 7, where the device corresponds to a downstream device along the call path.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

erasing the call data and the identifier from the device outside the call path when the call data and the identifier are not retrieved within a particular time interval.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving an erase request; and

erasing the call data and the identifier at the device outside the call path.

11. The method of claim 1, where the call data includes user-to-user information.

12. A system comprising:

a call data device to;

receive call data and an identifier associated with the call data from a first device incapable of forwarding the call data along a call path;

store the call data and the identifier;

receive a request to;

forward the call data and the identifier to a second device along the call path, or

erase the call data and the identifier; and

forward the call data and the identifier to the second device along the call path based on the request to forward, or

erase the call data and the identifier based on the request to erase.

13. The system of claim 12, where the request to forward and the request to erase include the identifier.

14. The system of claim 12, where the call data is associated with a telephone call.

15. The system of claim 12, where the call data device is further configured to:

erase the call data and the identifier when the call data is not forwarded or erased within a particular period of time.

16. The system of claim 12, further comprising:

a computer telephony integrated (CTI) device to transmit the request to the call data device.

17. The system of claim 12, where the call data device is outside the call path.

18. The system of claim 12, where the first device includes an interactive voice response device.

19. A device, comprising:

a memory to store instructions; and

a processor to execute the instructions to;

receive call data and an identifier associated with the call data from a first device incapable of transmitting the call data along a call path;

store the call data and the identifier associated with the call data;

allow the call data to be retrieved by a second device in the call path based on the identifier.

20. The device of claim 19, where the call data and the identifier of the call data is received as a part of a call setup signaling message.

21. The device of claim 19, where the device includes an Internet Protocol (IP) server.

22. The device of claim 19, where the call data includes information related to Signaling System 7 (SS7) parameter information.
