Abstract

A method for content delivery is disclosed. The method provides a digital engine accessible by a wireless communication device via an information network, maintains selectable content digitally formatted, receives a user selection of a content file, initiates transmission of the content file to the wireless communication device for storage and processing, and initiates transmission of additional information associated with the content file to the wireless communication device.

Claims

1. A content delivery system, comprising:

a digital engine accessible by a wireless communication device via an information network, the wireless communication device including a cellular communication module configured to receive an incoming telephone call, a memory module configured to store information received via a cellular communication network independent of the incoming telephone call, a processor communicatively coupled to the memory module and configured to process the information stored in the memory module, a local rechargeable battery configured to provide power to the wireless communication device, and an interface to enable a power supply to recharge the local rechargeable battery via the interface; and

the digital engine maintaining a plurality of selectable content formatted in a digital format, wherein the digital engine is accessible from the wireless communication device via a graphical user interface (GUI) operating on the wireless communication device to allow user selection of a selectable content file from the digital engine, wherein the wireless communication device is to receive and locally save the selectable content file, wherein the selectable content file can be wirelessly communicated to the wireless communication device from the digital engine via a communication engine communicatively coupled to the digital engine.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the digital engine, when accessed by the wireless communication device, is to provide a software upgrade for at least one software application of the wireless communication device.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the selectable content file is to be communicated to a computer system interfacing with the digital engine via the Internet, and is to be communicated to the wireless communication device from the computer system.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the GUI is configured to operate as a user interface for the digital engine without an active browsing environment.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the GUI comprises a store link such that a user can utilize the GUI to purchase items via the digital engine.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the GUI includes a store tab to enable navigation to a list of the plurality of selectable content including software applications.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the digital engine comprises a search engine that allows a user to search the plurality of selectable content by at least one of a title and genre.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the GUI comprises a top ten portion presenting a series of top ten lists based on different polls or genres.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the wireless communication device comprises a generally rectangular housing having a display that substantially encompasses a face of the housing.

The system of claim 1, wherein the wireless communication device has a generally rectangular shape and is configured to couple to a first conductive element to enable data communication to the wireless communication device and couple to a second conductive element to enable recharging of the rechargeable battery, wherein the first conductive element and the second conductive element are part of a generally rectangular interface.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein the selectable content file is to be downloaded at one of a plurality of different transfer rates.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein the wireless communication device is to communicate identification information to the digital engine before the selectable content file can be downloaded.

13. The system of claim 1, wherein the wireless communication device can be mounted within an interface mechanism, the interface mechanism to enable recharging of the rechargeable battery.

14. The system of claim 1, wherein the information network comprises the cellular communication network.

15. A method for content delivery comprising:

providing a digital engine accessible by a wireless communication device via an information network, the wireless communication device including a cellular communication module configured to receive an incoming telephone call, a display, a memory module configured to store information received via a wireless communication network, a processor communicatively coupled to the memory module and configured to process the information stored in the memory module, a local rechargeable battery configured to provide power to the wireless communication device, and a physical interface designed to mate with a connector that includes multiple conductive elements, wherein at least one of the conductive elements is configured to enable a recharging of the local rechargeable battery via the physical interface;

maintaining a plurality of selectable content formatted in a digital format;

receiving a user selection of a content file;

initiating transmission of the content file to the wireless communication device for storage and processing of the content file by the wireless communication device; and

initiating transmission of additional information associated with the content file to the wireless communication device that facilitates presentation of an altered graphical user interface on the display, wherein the altered graphical user interface includes a selectable icon linked to the content file.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising enabling wireless communication of the content file.

17. The method of claim 15, further comprising providing a graphical user interface (GUI) to operate on the wireless communication device to enable the user selection of the content file via the wireless communication device.

18. The method of claim 15, further comprising enabling transmission of the content file including audio information.
