Abstract

A content providing system is disclosed, which includes: a content providing server that is capable of delivering content data and information related thereto through a communication network; and a client that is capable of downloading the content data and the information related thereto through the communication network, wherein a management unit manages meta information of the respective content data as content item information, manages one or plural pieces of content item information as content program information in association with one another, and manages one or plural pieces of content program information as a content program catalogue, one content data and meta information thereof can be referred to in plural pieces of content item information, one piece of content item information can be referred to in plural pieces of content program information, and one piece of content program information can be referred to in plural content program catalogues, and when a term of availability of the content program catalogue has expired, the management unit deletes content program information included in the content program catalogue and/or content item information included in the content program information and/or content data included in the content item information.

Claims

1. A client terminal, comprising:

a receiver configured to receive content data and related information from a content providing server and a corresponding license specifying usage rule of the content data from a license server via a communication network;

a memory configured to store the content data and the related information and the license; and

a management circuit configured to manage the content data based on the related information and the license, the management circuit configured to manage a plurality of content data as a set in a case where the related information defines the plurality of content data as the set.

2. The client terminal according to claim 1, wherein the related information indicates that the plurality of content data is a magazine, and the related information further indicates a magazine title and version.

3. The client terminal according to claim 1, wherein the management circuit is configured to delete each of the plurality of content data in the set when a term of provision of the set is expired and the content data is not referred to by another set.

4. The client terminal according to claim 2, wherein the management circuit is configured to delete a corresponding license when the corresponding license is expired and the content data is deleted.

5. A system, comprising:

a content providing server configured to store content data and related information;

a license server configured to store a corresponding license specifying usage rules for each of the content data stored in the content providing server; and

a client terminal including,

a receiver configured to receive content data and related information from a content providing server and a corresponding license specifying usage rule of the content data from a license server via a communication network;

a memory configured to store the content data and the related information and the license; and

a management circuit configured to manage the content data based on the related information and the license, the management circuit configured to manage a plurality of content data as a set in a case where the related information defines the plurality of content data as the set.

6. The system according to claim 5, wherein the related information indicates that the plurality of content data is a magazine, and the related information further indicates a magazine title and version.

7. The system according to claim 5, wherein the management circuit is configured to delete each of the plurality of content data in the set when a term of provision of the set is expired and the content data is not referred to by another set.

8. The system according to claim 7, wherein the management circuit is configured to delete a corresponding license when the corresponding license is expired and the content data is deleted.

9. A method, comprising:

receiving content data and related information from a content providing server and a corresponding license specifying usage rule of the content data from a license server via a communication network;

storing the content data and the related information and the license in a memory; and

managing the content data based on the related information and the license, the managing including managing a plurality of content data as a set in a case where the related information defines the plurality of content data as the set.

10. The method according to claim 9, wherein the related information indicates that the plurality of content data is a magazine, and the related information further indicates a magazine title and version.

11. The method according to claim 9, further comprising:

deleting each of the plurality of content data in the set when a term of provision of the set is expired and the content data is not referred to by another set.

12. The method according to claim 11, further comprising:

deleting a corresponding license when the corresponding license is expired and the content data is deleted.

13. A client terminal, comprising:

a receiver configured to receive content data and related information from a content providing server and a corresponding license specifying usage rule of the content data from a license server via a communication network;

a memory configured to store the content data and the related information and the license; and

a management circuit configured manage the content data based on the related information and the license, the management circuit configured to delete the content data after a non-zero predetermined time from an expiration of the license.

14. The client terminal according to claim 13, wherein the management circuit is configured to delete the content data after a non-zero predetermined time from an expiration of the license and the content data is not referred to by another content data.

15. The client terminal according to claim 14, wherein the management circuit is configured to delete the license after anon-zero predetermined time from an expiration of the license and the content data is deleted.

16. A system, comprising:

a content providing server configured to store content data and related information;

a license server configured to store a corresponding license specifying usage rules for each of the content data stored in the content providing server; and

a client terminal including,

a receiver configured to receive content data and related information from a content providing server and a corresponding license specifying usage rule of the content data from a license server via a communication network;

a memory configured to store the content data and the related information and the license; and

a management circuit configured manage the content data based on the related information and the license, the management circuit configured to delete the content data after a non-zero predetermined time from an expiration of the license.

17. The system according to claim 16, wherein the management circuit is configured to delete the content data after a non-zero predetermined time from an expiration of the license and the content data is not referred to by another content data.

18. The system according to claim 17, wherein the management circuit is configured to delete the license after a non-zero predetermined time from an expiration of the license and the content data is deleted.

19. A method, comprising:

receiving content data and related information from a content providing server and a corresponding license specifying usage rule of the content data from a license server via a communication network;

storing the content data and the related information and the license; and

managing the content data based on the related information and the license, the managing including deleting the content data after a non-zero predetermined time from an expiration of the license.

20. The method according to claim 19, wherein the managing includes deleting the content data after a non-zero predetermined time from an expiration of the license and the content data is not referred to by another content data.

21. The method according to claim 19, further comprising:

deleting the license after a non-zero predetermined time from an expiration of the license and the content data is deleted.
