Abstract

A method for saving number applied to a handheld electronic device is provided. The method has the following steps. An entered number is shown on a screen of the handheld electronic device. Whether the entered number is one of saved numbers is determined. If the entered number is not corresponding to one of the saved numbers, a save button is shown on the screen, and the entered number is saved after the save button is triggered.

Claims

1. A handheld electronic device, comprising:

a screen used for displaying an entered number;

a storage unit for saving one or more saved numbers; and

a processing unit coupled to the screen and the storage unit for determining whether the entered number is corresponding to one of the saved numbers, wherein if the entered number is not corresponding to one of the saved numbers, the processing unit displays a save button on the screen for saving the entered number after the save button is triggered.

2. The handheld electronic device according to claim 1, wherein the processing unit determines whether the entered number is corresponding to one of the saved numbers by determining whether the entered number matches a part of the one of the saved numbers;

wherein,

if the processing unit determines that the entered number matches a part of the one of the saved numbers, the processing unit does not display the save button on the screen; and

if the processing unit determines that the entered number does not match a part of the one of the saved numbers, the processing unit displays the save button on the screen.

3. The handheld electronic device according to claim 2, wherein the part of the saved number comprises the initial part, the middle part, or the final part of the saved number.

The handheld electronic device according to claim 1, wherein the processing unit further determines whether the units of the digital numbers of the entered number reach predetermined units of digital numbers, and the processing unit displays the save button on the screen when the processing unit determines that the units of digital numbers of the entered number reach the predetermined units of digital numbers and the entered number is not corresponding to one of the saved numbers.

5. The handheld electronic device according to claim 4, wherein the processing unit determines whether the entered number is corresponding to one of the saved numbers by determining whether the entered number matches a part of the one of the saved numbers;

wherein,

if the processing unit determines that the entered number matches a part of the one of the saved numbers, the processing unit does not display the save button on the screen; and

if the processing unit determines that the entered number does not match a part of the one of the saved numbers and the units of digital numbers of the entered number reach or exceed the predetermined units of digital numbers, the processing unit displays the save button on the screen.

The handheld electronic device according to claim 4, wherein after the processing unit displays the save button on the screen, the processing unit further determines whether the units of digital numbers of the entered number increase, and the processing unit does not display the save button on the screen if the processing unit determines that the units of digital numbers of the entered number increase and the entered number is corresponding to one of the saved numbers.

7. The handheld electronic device according to claim 1, wherein

the saved numbers are corresponding to contact data in a contact list;

and

the processing unit saves the entered number corresponding to contact data after the save button is triggered, wherein the contact data is a new contact data or a contact data previously saved in the contact list.

8. The handheld electronic device according to claim 1, wherein the processing unit activates a number saving function for saving the entered number after the save button is triggered.

9. The handheld electronic device according to claim 1, wherein the screen is a touch screen, wherein the touch screen displays a keypad for inputting the entered number.

10. The handheld electronic device according to claim 1, further comprising a physical keypad for inputting the entered number.

11. The handheld electronic device according to claim 1, further comprising a physical button for activating the save button.

12. A method for saving number, applied to a handheld electronic device, the method comprising:

displaying an entered number on a screen of the handheld electronic device;

determining whether the entered number is corresponding to one of saved numbers; and

displaying a save button on the screen if the entered number is not corresponding to one of the saved numbers, wherein the save button is for saving the entered number after the save button is triggered.

13. The method for saving number according to claim 12, wherein the step of determining whether the entered number is corresponding to one of the saved numbers comprises:

determining whether the entered number matches a part of the one of the saved numbers;

not displaying the save button on the screen if the entered number matches a part of the one of the saved numbers; and

displaying the save button on the screen if the entered number does not match a part of the one of the saved numbers.

17. The method for saving number according to claim 12, wherein the one or more saved numbers are contact data.

18. The method for saving number according to claim 12, wherein after the step of displaying the save button, the method further comprises:

triggering the save button; and

activating a number saving function to save the entered number.

19. The method for saving number according to claim 12, wherein after the step of displaying the save button, the method further comprises:

triggering the save button; and

saving the entered number as a contact data.

20. A digital storage medium having a plurality of commands executable on a handheld electronic device for executing the method for saving number according to claim 12 after the handheld electronic device executes these commands.

14. The method for saving number according to claim 125 further comprising:

determining whether the units of digital numbers of the entered number reach predetermined units of digital numbers; and

displaying the save button on the screen if the units of digital numbers of the entered number reach the predetermined units of digital numbers and the entered number is not corresponding to one of the saved numbers.

15. The method for saving number according to claim 14, wherein the step of determining whether the entered number is corresponding to one of the saved numbers comprises:

determining whether the entered number matches a part of the one of the saved numbers;

not displaying the save button on the screen if the entered number matches a part of the one of the saved numbers; and

displaying the save button on the screen if the entered number does not match a part of the one of the saved numbers and the units of digital numbers of the entered number reach or exceed the predetermined units of digital numbers.

16. The method for saving number according to claim 23, wherein after the step of displaying the save button, the method further comprises:

determining whether the units of digital numbers of the entered number increase; and

hiding the save button from the screen if the units of digital numbers of the entered number increase and the entered number is corresponding to one of the saved numbers.
