1. A complex event processing cloud for extending the performance and scope of a complex event engine by establishing a “

  • cloud”

    of complex event engines that can process and correlate event streams from any single or multiple event stream sources. comprising;

    means for generated event streams by systems external to the CEP Cloud. these are the native events for all other driveled events in the CEP Cloud;

    means for event streams that are not native events. typically application level events that add information and context to native events;

    means for a distributed system of CEP Services;

    means for an entity that provides a logical application level service. comprised of one or multiple CEP Engines of the CEP Cloud;

    means for executable actions generated by a CEP Service that are invoked as a result of a single or correlation of multiple events (native or derived) identifying a specific condition warranting the action to be taken action targets may be external systems and CEP Services;

    means for an entity that is a component of a CEP Service that end users can specifically request as part of the overall service;

    means for an entity that is part of a service function as a direct result of decomposing the service function into autonomous sub functions. each service sub function describes an interim state of the overall service function; and

    means for an entity that is part of an event stream as a direct result of decomposing the event stream into distinct and separate event streams. each event sub steam may contain whole or part of the originating event stream.
