Abstract

A system comprising a first network element, a second network element and a communication device. The first network element is communicatively coupled to the second network element and the communication device. The communication device sends multimedia session information to the first network element. The first network element analyzes the multimedia session information for urgent emergency circumstances. The first network element forwards the multimedia session information to a destination on the second network element if urgent emergency circumstances are found in the multimedia session information.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

a first network element;

a second network element;

a communication device;

wherein the first network element is communicatively coupled to the second network element and the communication device;

the communication device sends multimedia session information to the first network element;

the first network element analyzes the multimedia session information for urgent emergency circumstances; and

the first network element forwards the multimedia session information to a destination on the second network element if urgent emergency circumstances are found in the multimedia session information.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein:

the first network element is a multimedia analysis and storage application server;

the second network element is a municipal security video monitoring center and archive facility; and

the destination on the second network element is a live monitoring center.

3. The system of claim 2 further comprising:

an IMS system consisting of an IMS session control node, a service broker, a presence location server, a home subscriber server, a telephony application server;

wherein the communications device is communicatively coupled to the IMS session control node;

the service broker is communicatively coupled to the IMS session control node, the home subscriber server, and the presence location server;

the telephony application server is communicatively coupled to the service broker and the multimedia analysis and storage application server;

the multimedia analysis and storage application server is communicatively coupled to the municipal security video monitoring center and archive facility;

wherein the service broker retrieves geo-location information from the presence location server, and the service broker retrieves bearer capabilities from the home subscriber server;

the communication device establishes a bearer channel with the multimedia analysis and storage application server by signaling through the IMS session control node, service broker, and telephony application server; and

the communication device sends multimedia session information to the multimedia analysis and storage application server on the bearer channel.

4. The system of claim 3 wherein the IMS session control node, service broker, presence location server, home subscriber server, telephone application server, and multimedia analysis and storage application server communicate using a session initiation protocol.

5. The system of claim 3 wherein if a subscriber dials a 711 code or pushes an icon on the communication device, the communication device sends a first session initiation protocol invite message to the IMS session control node.

6. The system of claim 5 wherein the IMS session control node recognizes the dialed code of 711 and routes the first session initiation protocol invite message to the service broker.

7. The system of claim 6 wherein upon receipt of the first session initiation protocol invite message the service broker creates a time stamp, retrieves the geo-location of the communication device from the presence location server, retrieves bearer capabilities for the communication device from the home subscriber server, and places the time stamp, geo-location information and bearer capabilities in private headers of a second session initiation protocol invite message and sends the second session initiation protocol invite message to the telephony application server.

The system of claim 7 wherein the telephony application server forwards the second session initiation protocol invite message to the multimedia analysis and storage application server and the multimedia analysis and storage application server creates the bearer channel with the communication device.

9. The system of claim 8 wherein the multimedia analysis and storage application server creating the bearer channel further comprises the multimedia analysis and storage application server performing session initiation protocol options negotiations with the communications device.

10. The system of claim 8 wherein the multimedia analysis and storage application server creating the bearer channel further comprises that the multimedia analysis and storage application server supports video bearer capabilities.

11. The system of claim 8 wherein the multimedia analysis and storage application server uses the bearer capabilities contained in the private headers of the second session initiation protocol invite message to begin session initiation protocol options negotiations.

12. The system of claim 8 wherein the multimedia analysis and storage application server stores multimedia session information received on the bearer channel from the communication device.

The system of claim 3 further comprising a charging collection function communicatively coupled to the multimedia analysis and storage application server wherein upon completion of a multimedia session, the multimedia analysis and storage application server sends resource utilization records to the charging collection function.

14. The system of claim 3 wherein upon completion of a communication session, the multimedia analysis and storage application server sends multimedia session information to the municipal security video monitoring center and archive facility.

15. The system of claim 3 wherein the municipal security video monitoring center and archive facility supports a protocol that allows multimedia session information to be stored and retrieved from the municipal security video monitoring center and archive facility.

16. The system of claim 15 wherein the multimedia session information may be retrieved by at least one of a time stamp, geo-location and mobile identification from the municipal security video monitoring center and archive facility.

17. The system of claim 3 wherein if heuristic analysis reveals urgent emergency circumstances exist in the multimedia session information then the multimedia analysis and storage application server forwards the multimedia session information to the live monitoring center.

18. The system of claim 17 wherein the municipal security video monitoring center and archive facility further comprises an archive facility, and wherein the multimedia analysis and storage application server forwards the multimedia session information to the archive facility.

19. The system of claim 3 wherein the multimedia analysis and storage application server and the municipal security video monitoring center and archive facility serve a region.

20. A method comprising the steps of:

receiving multimedia session information;

analyzing the multimedia session information to determine if urgent emergency circumstances exist; and

sending the multimedia session information to a network element.

21. The method of claim 20 further comprising:

handling a first session initiation protocol invite message;

archiving the multimedia session information; and

wherein the network element is a municipal security video monitoring storage and archive facility.

The method of claim 21 wherein handling a first session initiation protocol invite message further comprises determining a dialed code in the session initiation protocol invite message and retrieving location information from a presence location server, bearer capabilities from a home subscriber server and creating a time stamp if the dialed code is 711 and placing the location information, bearer capabilities and time stamp into private headers of second session initiation protocol invite message.

23. The method of claim 21 wherein receiving a multimedia session information further comprises multimedia analysis and storage application server setting up a bearer channel path to a communication device.

24. The method of claim 21 wherein analyzing multimedia session information further comprises analyzing multimedia session information using heuristic analysis.

25. The method of claim 21 wherein sending the multimedia session information to a municipal security video monitoring storage archive facility further comprises sending multimedia session information to a live monitoring facility if analyzing multimedia session information shows urgent emergency circumstances exist.

26. The method of claim 21 wherein archiving the multimedia session information further comprises sending the multimedia session information to the municipal video monitoring storage archive facility.
