Abstract

A spectacle and writing instrument combination which uses an integrated holding apparatus enabling spectacles to be worn simultaneously with an attached writing instrument. The integration of the holding apparatus as part of the spectacles also allows the writing instrument to be directly attached to the spectacle frame.

The use of this spectacle and writing instrument combination offers immediate and practical access to the attached writing instrument, enabling the wearer to detach the writing instrument for use when required, and re-attach after use. The wearer has the freedom to use the spectacles without disruption whilst being able to directly access the attached writing instrument at all times. Therefore a more efficient spectacle and writing instrument combination is provided.

Writing instruments can include pens, pencils, styluses and specialty trade writing instruments. Spectacles have a wide range of functions which may include vision aids, safety spectacles and sunglasses. Therefore integrated holding apparatus for attaching writing instruments to spectacle frames can vary according to the specific writing instrument, spectacle frame and materials used.

Examples of the many possible integrated holding apparatus can include clip-type holders, magnetic connections and hollow recesses formed within the spectacle frame. The holding apparatus can be integrated in various locations including the right or left-side spectacle temple, or brow section of the spectacle frame front.

By integrating the holding apparatus, the spectacle and writing instrument combination becomes one whole appliance, therefore creating greater stability and ease of use.

Claims

1. A method of operating a spectacle and writing instrument combination, comprising:

a) wearing a spectacle and writing instrument combination comprising said pair of spectacles, said writing instrument and a holding apparatus, and said holding apparatus is integrated as part of said spectacles and attaches said writing instrument to said pair of spectacles, and

b) detaching said writing instrument from said holding apparatus requires a wearer to simply reach for said attached writing instrument secured in place by said integrated holding apparatus, and gently pull said writing instrument clear, free from said holding apparatus, and said writing instrument is now available for use, and

c) separating said writing instrument from said pair of spectacles can therefore take place without disrupting the use of said pair of spectacles, and

d) re-attaching said writing instrument after use involves said wearer returning said writing instrument to said holding apparatus by realigning said writing instrument closely for contact up against, or pushed within, said holding apparatus for secure re-attachment, and

whereby integrating said holding apparatus as part of said pair of spectacles allows said wearer uninterrupted use of said spectacles whilst providing immediate and practical access to said attached writing instrument at all times,

2. A spectacle and writing instrument combination comprising:

a) a pair of spectacles comprising a right-side spectacle temple, a left-side spectacle temple and a spectacle frame front, and

i) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 2, wherein said pair of spectacles function as a vision aid, and

ii) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 2, wherein said pair of spectacles function as safety glasses, and

iii) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 2, wherein said pair of spectacles function as sunglasses, and

b) a writing instrument, and

c) a holding apparatus, and

d) said holding apparatus is integrated as part of said pair of spectacles, and

e) said holding apparatus attaches said writing instrument to said pair of spectacles, and

f) said integrated holding apparatus can take on a plurality of forms for direct attachment of said writing instrument to said pair of spectacles, and

i) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 2 wherein said integrated holding apparatus can include a clip-type holder, and

ii) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 2 wherein said integrated holding apparatus can be in the form of a magnetic connection between said pair of spectacles and said writing instrument, and

iii) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 2 wherein said integrated holding apparatus can take the form of a hollow recess which can be molded and cast into shape as part of said pair of spectacles for attaching said writing instrument, and

iv) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 2 wherein said integrated holding apparatus is of predetermined dimensions and can vary depending on the respective diameter and shape of said writing instrument, and

g) said integrated holding apparatus can be located in a number of different positions as part of said pair of spectacles, and

i) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 2 wherein said integrated holding apparatus can be positioned along said right-side spectacle temple, and

ii) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 2 wherein said integrated holding apparatus can be positioned along said left-side spectacle temple, and

iii) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 2 wherein said integrated holding apparatus can be positioned along said spectacle frame front,

whereby said spectacle and writing instrument combination allows the wearer uninterrupted use of said spectacles whilst providing instant access at all times to said attached writing instrument, and by integrating said holding apparatus, said spectacle and writing instrument combination becomes one whole item, therefore creating greater stability and ease of use.

3. A spectacle and writing instrument combination comprising:

a) a pair of spectacles,

b) a writing instrument, and

c) a holding apparatus, and

d) said holding apparatus directly attaches said writing instrument to said pair of spectacles, and

e) said holding apparatus is integrated as part of said pair of spectacles, and

f) said holding apparatus integration means can be achieved using many different techniques, and

i) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 3 wherein said holding apparatus integration means can include mounting and fixing said holding apparatus to said pair of spectacles using a multitude of fastening techniques including but not limited to rivets, screws and welds, and

ii) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 3 wherein said holding apparatus integration means can include molding and casting said holding apparatus into shape as part of said pair of spectacles for integration, and

iii) the spectacle and writing instrument combination of claim 3 wherein said holding apparatus integration means can be in the form of a magnetic connection between said pair of spectacles and said writing instrument, and

whereby said holding apparatus integration means provides direct attachment for said writing instrument to said pair of spectacles, producing a more convenient and stable said spectacle and writing instrument combination, and the wearer has the freedom to use said pair of spectacles without disruption, whilst having direct access to said attached writing instrument when needed.
