1. A cholesteric liquid crystal display device, comprising:

  • at least one cell comprising two substrates containing therebetween a layer of cholesteric liquid crystal material; and

    a protective sheet or a stack of plural protective sheets, being adhered to the substrate at the front of the at least one cell by a layer of adhesive and, in the case of a stack of plural protective sheets, being adhered to each other by a layer of adhesive between each pair of adjacent protective sheets in the stack,whereinthe adhesive is or an adhesive curable by light having a wavelength of at least 390 nm, andthe adhesive contains a UV blocking agent having a property of reducing the transmission of ultra-violet light through the adhesive.
