Abstract

Remote health monitoring of at least one individual using at least one remote apparatus that receives and records health-related video content being delivered from a plurality of video sources. The remote apparatus also receives and stores vital sign data of an individual. Also, a user interface capable of executing a rule script having a plurality of response choices is provided in the remote apparatus. A remote server is provided that is communicatively coupled to the remote apparatus and includes a script generator for generating the rule script that is based on the vital sign data and various responses received from the individual. The various responses received from the individual are analyzed within the remote server to determine appropriate video content that can be recorded in the remote apparatus for imparting better health knowledge to the individual and monitoring their health condition accordingly.

Claims

1. A health digital video recording system for remote health management and monitoring, said system comprising:

at least one remote apparatus comprising;

means to receive a plurality of response choices and a transmit a user response;

means to input said user response by an individual;

means to receive and store vital sign data of said individual;

a user interface that displays said plurality of response choices to said individual; and

means to receive and record video content delivered from a plurality of video sources in response to said user response by said individual;

a remote server that is communicatively coupled to said remote apparatus, wherein said remote server comprises;

means to transmit said plurality of response choices;

means to receive user responses;

a script generator that executes a rule script generating said plurality of response choices, wherein said plurality of response choices are generated according to at least one of said vital sign data and said user responses, and

wherein said user responses are analyzed within said remote server to determine appropriate video content recorded and stored in the remote apparatus.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein said means to receive and record video content comprises a television processor having a digital video recorder.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein said remote server stores profiles of said individual.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein said remote server further comprises means to search program schedule information of the video content being delivered.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein said remote server further comprises means to transmit a message to said remote apparatus indicating said appropriate video content that should be recorded.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein said user responses received from said individual includes timing information indicating when said individual viewed the recorded video content.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein said rule script comprises survey questions and messages.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein said survey questions include questions relating to the recorded appropriate video content to determine whether said individual has comprehended the video content.

9. The system of claim 7, wherein said remote server further comprises means to receive data including video content viewed by said individual and responses to the survey questions received from said individual.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the data including video content viewed by said individual and response of the surveys received from said individual are monitored by respective healthcare providers of said individual.

11. The system of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of sensors coupled to said remote apparatus, wherein the sensors comprise means to detect said vital sign data of said individual.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein said user interface comprises means to receive the responses received by said individual.

13. The system of claim 10, wherein said remote server stores a health report creation method on a computer-readable medium operatively connected to said remote server, and wherein said health report creation method comprises creating a report for said individual that can be accessed by remotely-located healthcare providers.

14. The system of claim 10, wherein said remote apparatus comprises a unique device identification code.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein said remote apparatus has a unique service identification code that indicates which appropriate service said remote apparatus is eligible to receive from which appropriate healthcare provider.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein said remote apparatus receives specific rule script based on said unique identification code and said unique services identification code.

17. A remote health management method that manages health of at least one individual, said method comprising:

receiving, in a remote apparatus, vital sign data of an individual;

receiving video content being delivered from a plurality of video sources;

executing a rule script having a plurality of response choices; and

configuring a remote server that is communicatively coupled to said remote apparatus to generate said rule script that is based on the vital sign data and various responses received from said individual,

wherein said various responses received from said individual are analyzed within said remote server to determine appropriate video content that is to be recorded in said remote apparatus.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising storing detailed profiles of said individual within said remote server.

19. The method of claim 17, further comprising searching program schedule information of said video content being delivered.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein said rule script comprises survey questions and messages.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein the survey questions include questions relating to the recorded appropriate video content to determine if said individual has comprehended the video content.

22. The method of claim 17, wherein said remote server receives data including video content viewed by said individual and the response of the survey questions received from said individual.

23. The method of claim 22, further comprising allowing respective healthcare providers of said individual to access and monitor the received data including video content viewed by said individual and said response of the survey questions received from said individual.

24. The method of claim 17, further comprising detecting said vital sign data of said individual using at least one sensor coupled to said remote apparatus.

26. A health digital video recording system for remote health management and monitoring, said system comprising:

a remote apparatus comprising;

means to receive a plurality of response choices and a transmit a user response;

means to input said user response by an individual;

means to receive and store vital sign data of said individual;

a user interface that displays said plurality of response choices to said individual, and (ii) receives responses from said individual; and

a television processor having a digital video recorder to receive and record video content delivered from a plurality of video sources in response to said user response by said individual;

a plurality of sensors coupled to said remote apparatus, wherein the sensors comprise means to detect said vital sign data of said individual

a remote server that is communicatively coupled to said remote apparatus, wherein said remote server stores profiles of said individual and comprises;

means to transmit said plurality of response choices;

means to receive user responses;

a script generator that executes a rule script generating said plurality of response choices, wherein said plurality of response choices are generated according to at least one of said vital sign data and said user responses;

means to search program schedule information of the video content being delivered;

means to transmit a message to said remote apparatus indicating said appropriate video content that should be recorded, and

wherein said user responses are analyzed within said remote server to determine appropriate video content recorded and stored in the remote apparatus,

wherein said user responses received from said individual includes timing information indicating when said individual viewed the recorded video content,

wherein said rule script comprises survey questions and messages, and

wherein said survey questions include questions relating to the recorded appropriate video content to determine whether said individual has comprehended the video content.
