Abstract

A therapy tracking system and method may include a processor that obtains physiological information regarding a patient and a time period during which a deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy is conducted. The information may be organized into a plurality of sessions. The processor may arrange in a display device a separate representation of the information for each of at least a subset of the sessions, such that the sessions are presented in order of time.

Claims

1. A method of a therapy tracking machine, the method comprising:

obtaining, by a processor of the machine, physiological information regarding a patient and a time period during which a deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy is conducted;

arranging, by the processor and in a display device, a representation of the information against a timeline representing the time period.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the information is organized into a plurality of sessions, each session being assigned a respective position along the timeline.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

for each of at least a subset of the sessions, displaying at the respective position of the session with respect to the timeline, stimulation parameter information regarding settings of a leadwire during the session, the leadwire being used for conducting the stimulation therapy.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein a thumbnail depiction of a model of the leadwire is displayed for each of at least a subset of the sessions, the thumbnail including at least a portion of the stimulation parameter information.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the thumbnail shows at least one of which electrodes are active and one or more current fields.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein:

the time period corresponding to the displayed timeline is a portion of a greater time period during which the DBS therapy was conducted, and the timeline is scrollable to display information corresponding to other portions of the greater time period; and

the thumbnails are rotating thumbnails that are displayed and removed from display in accordance with the scrolling of the timeline.

7. The method of claim 2, wherein the sessions are selectable by a user from a plurality of sessions.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein one of the sessions is selectable as a baseline, information regarding the baseline session being displayed for comparison with any session selected for display along the timeline.

9. The method of claim 2, wherein a first and last session are automatically selected for display of corresponding information along the timeline.

10. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

displaying note icons along the timeline, each note icon selectable for viewing a note entered in association with a session to which a point along the timeline at which the note icon is displayed corresponds.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the representation of information includes a graph of a change in a physiological parameter over the time period.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the physiological information for which the representation is arranged is a subset of physiological information obtained by the processor, the subset being user-selectable.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein at least a subset of the physiological information is obtained from a sensor that senses physiological characteristics of the patient.

14. A method of a therapy tracking machine, the method comprising:

obtaining, by a processor of the machine, physiological information regarding a patient and a time period during which a deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy is conducted, the information being organized into a plurality of sessions; and

arranging, by the processor and in a display device, a separate representation of the information for each of at least a subset of the sessions, the sessions being presented in order of time.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

determining a difference between adjacent ones of the subsets of sessions with respect to each of at least one physiological parameter; and

displaying an identification of a type of trend with respect to the determined difference.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the identification of trend type is via directional arrows indicating a positive or negative change.

17. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

with respect to each of the subsets;

for each of at least one physiological parameter;

determining whether a value of the parameter is within a tolerance range; and

where the determination is that the value is not within the tolerance range, outputting a corresponding visual alert.

18. A therapy tracking system, comprising:

a display device; and

a processor configured to;

obtain physiological information regarding a patient and a time period during which a deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy is conducted, the information being organized into a plurality of sessions; and

arrange in a display device a separate representation of the information for each of at least a subset of the sessions, the sessions being presented in order of time.
