Abstract

Embolic implants, delivery systems and methods of manufacture and delivery are disclosed. The devices can be used for aneurysm treatment and/or parent vessel occlusion. Implant designs offer low profile compressibility for delivery to neurovasculature, while maintaining other necessary features such as density for occlusion purposes and desirable radial strength characteristics.

Claims

1. An detachable implant pusher system comprising:

an implant including a proximal port;

an elongate pusher sleeve;

an elongate member received within a lumen of the sleeve and exiting at proximal and distal ends;

the elongate member received through the implant port,

wherein the sleeve is locked to the implant until the at least one elongate member is drawn into the sleeve.

8. The system of claim 1, at least two elongate members are received within the port and one of the elongate members includes an enlarged end, and no other elongate member includes an enlarged end.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein three elongate members are received within the port.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the elongate members are received within the sleeve lumen in a close-packed configuration.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein the elongate member is connected to a handle actuator.

2. The system of claim 2, wherein the pusher sleeve is received within the implant port.

3. The system of claim 3, wherein the pusher includes a shoulder abutting the implant.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the at least one elongate member is a single ribbon.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the ribbon exits a side port in the sleeve.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the ribbon enters a second side port in the sleeve.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the ribbon exits a distal end of the sleeve lumen.

12. A detachable implant pusher system comprising:

an implant including a proximal port;

an anchor wire having a distal head, the anchor wire received through the port;

at least one control wire, the control wire received through the port;

all of the wires received within a pusher sleeve abutting the implant;

wherein the distal head can only exit the port and release the implant after the control wires are withdrawn from the port.

wherein the sleeve is locked to the implant until the at least one control wire is drawn into the sleeve.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein each at least one control wire has no head.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein each at least one control wire is a straight-gauge wire.

15. The system of claim 14, further comprising a handle having an actuator, wherein each at least one control wire is connected to the actuator.

16. The system of claim 15, where all of the wires are connected to the actuator.

17. The system of claim 12, wherein the implant is a braid-ball device.

18. A method of implant deployment with a releasable pusher, the method comprising:

releasing the implant from a tubular restraint to expand at a treatment site while connected to a pusher;

at least one elongate member received within the pusher and extending into the implant; and

withdrawing the at least one elongate member to eliminate interference distal to a lumen in the implant to free the pusher.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein a plurality of elongate members are closely-packed within the implant lumen and are withdrawn individually to effect release.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the elongate members are withdrawn without crossing a radial component of the pusher.
