Abstract

A method and system for processing purchases from a wireless device. The method includes, responsive to a search command received from the wireless device, executing a search in a retailer database. The method includes transmitting a search result to the wireless device for display. The method includes, responsive to a purchase command received from the wireless device, processing a sales transaction with a selected retailer.

Claims

1. A method for processing purchases from a wireless device, comprising:

responsive to a search command received from the wireless device, executing a search in a retailer database, wherein the search command includes a product photograph and the search is based on the product photograph;

transmitting a search result to the wireless device for display; and

responsive to a purchase command received from the wireless device,

processing a sales transaction with a selected retailer.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the sales transaction is for a product.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

shipping the purchased product at the completion of the sales transaction.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a member identifier from the wireless device along with the search command and the purchase command.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the sales transaction is completed with member information associated with the member identifier.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the search command includes at least one of:

a product name, a Universal Product Code, and a machine-readable code scanned by the wireless device.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the retailer database includes nearby brick-and-mortar stores and online stores.

21. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

filtering the search result with a weighted relevance function based on a distance and a price savings.

8. A system for processing purchases from a wireless device, comprising:

a memory storing a retailer database; and

a server in communication with the memory and a mobile device, the server configured to

responsive to a search command received from the wireless device, execute a search in the retailer database, wherein the search command includes a product photograph and the search is based on the product photograph,

transmit a search result to the wireless device for display, and

responsive to a purchase command received from the wireless device, processing a sales transaction with a selected retailer.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the sales transaction is for a product.

10. The system of claim 9, the server further configured to

initiate shipping the purchased product at the completion of the sales transaction.

11. The system of claim 8, the server further configured to

receive a member identifier from the wireless device along with the search command and the purchase command.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the sales transaction is completed with member information associated with the member identifier.

13. The system of claim 8, wherein the search command includes at least one of:

a product name, a Universal Product Code, and a machine-readable code scanned by the wireless device.

14. The system of claim 8, wherein the retailer database includes nearby brick-and-mortar stores and online stores.

15. A computer-readable medium including instructions adapted to execute a method for processing purchases from a wireless device, the method comprising:

responsive to a search command received from the wireless device, executing a search in a retailer database, wherein the search command includes a product photograph and the search is based on the product photograph;

transmitting a search result to the wireless device for display; and

responsive to a purchase command received from the wireless device, processing a sales transaction with a selected retailer.

16. The medium of claim 15, wherein the sales transaction is for a product.

17. The medium of claim 16, the method further comprising:

shipping the purchased product at the completion of the sales transaction.

18. The medium of claim 15, the method further comprising:

receiving a member identifier from the wireless device along with the search command and the purchase command, wherein the sales transaction is completed with member information associated with the member identifier.

19. The medium of claim 15, wherein the search command includes at least one of:

a product name, a Universal Product Code, and a machine-readable code scanned by the wireless device.

20. The medium of claim 15, wherein the retailer database includes nearby brick-and-mortar stores and online stores.
