Abstract

A monitoring apparatus for monitoring communication configurations of a plurality of client devices connected to a server, the monitoring apparatus includes: a processor for controlling the communications between the client devices and the server in accordance with a process including: receiving from each of the client devices communication condition information and storing latest communication condition information of each of the client devices; determining at a time interval whether any of client devices became incapable of communication with the server by checking the latest communication condition information of each of client devices; and upon detection of at least one of the client devices for which obsolete communication condition information is stored, issuing a notice indicating that the at least one of the client devices are incapable of communication with the server.

Claims

1. A monitoring apparatus for monitoring communication configurations of a plurality of client devices connected to a server, the monitoring apparatus comprising:

a processor for controlling the communications between the client devices and the server in accordance with a process including;

receiving from each of the client devices communication condition information and storing latest communication condition information of each of the client devices;

determining at a time interval whether any of client devices became incapable of communication with the server by checking the latest communication condition information of each of client devices; and

upon detection of at least one of the client devices for which obsolete communication condition information is stored, issuing a notice indicating that the at least one of the client devices are incapable of communication with the server.

The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the processor identifies the latest communication condition information of each of the client devices in accordance with receipt of change information indicative of a communication configuration change from the client device which is capable of communication with the server.

3. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the processor determines whether any of client devices became incapable of communication with the server in accordance with a receipt of signal from each of client devices.

4. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the communication condition information is a configuration relating to a mail server with which the client device communicates for exchanging e-mail.

5. The monitoring apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the processor determines whether a domain of the mail server is changed or not by referring a domain included in the communication condition information of the client device which is capable of communication with the mail server.

The monitoring apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the processor identifies a client device which does not change a communication configuration, the communication configuration of the client device being the same communication configuration of a client device which is capable of communication with the server.

The monitoring apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the processor changes, when the processor identifies the client device which does not change the communication configuration, a group to which the communicatable client device belongs to other group which includes the client device which does not change the communication configuration.

The monitoring apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the processor changes, when the processor determines that the client device which does not change the communication configuration does not exist, a group to which the communicatable client device belongs to other group which is different from a group including the client device which does not change the communication configuration.

9. A monitoring method for monitoring communication configurations of a plurality of client devices connected to a server, the monitoring method comprising:

receiving from each of the client devices communication condition information and storing latest communication condition information of each of the client devices;

determining at a time interval whether any of client devices became incapable of communication with the server by checking the latest communication condition information of each of client devices; and

upon detection of at least one of the client devices for which obsolete communication condition information is stored, issuing a notice indicating that the at least one of the client devices are incapable of communication with the server.
