1. An occupant presence and position sensing system in a vehicle, comprising:

  • a first capacitor electrode located on a back of a seat;

    a second capacitor electrode located on a bottom of the seat; and

    a decision making unit coupled to the first capacitor and the second capacitor and capable of determining a position of an occupant relative to an airbag and whether to deploy the airbag during a crash of the vehicle.
