Abstract

A system for maintaining stateful information includes a client proxy configured to receive and collect status information associated with a client, and a state machine executing on a processor to collect and store the status information in a memory and provide stateful information associated with the client. The client may be a stateless client and the state machine may be configured to maintain stateful information associated with the stateless client. The state machine is may be configured to collect and store information intended for the client and provide the stored information to the client. The system may further include a client status processor configured to process the status information associated with the client and to provide the status information to the client proxy to control the stateful information.

Claims

1. a system for maintaining stateful information, comprising:

a client proxy configured to receive and collect status information associated with a client; and

a state machine executing on a processor to collect and store the status information in a memory and provide stateful information associated with the client.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the client proxy includes a plurality of client proxies, each associated with a different client.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the stateful information comprises:

a unique client identifier; and

a client status.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the stateful information further comprises a client activity.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the client is a stateless client and the state machine maintains stateful information associated with the stateless client.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the state machine collects and stores information intended for the client and provide the stored information to the client.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein status information is controlled by the client.

8. The system of claim 7, further comprising:

a client status processor to process the status information associated with the client and to provide the status information to the client proxy to control the stateful information.

9. A method for maintaining stateful information, comprising:

in a client proxy, receiving and collecting the status information associated with a client;

in a state machine executing on a processor, processing the status information and providing stateful information associated with the client;

collecting messages intended for the client; and

distributing the messages intended for the client.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the stateful information comprises:

a unique client identifier; and

a client status.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the stateful information further comprises a client activity.

12. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

distributing the messages intended for the client in response to a request from the client.

13. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

distributing the messages intended for the client over a reacquired client connection.

14. The method of claim 9, wherein the client is a stateless client, further comprising:

remote controlling of the stateful information by the client over a network.

15. An article, comprising

a storage medium having stored instructions thereon that when executed by a machine result in the following:

receiving and collecting the status information associated with a client; and

processing the status information to provide stateful information associated with the client.

16. The article of claim 15, wherein the stateful information comprises:

a unique client identifier; and

a client status.

17. The article of claim 16, wherein the stateful information further comprises a client activity.

18. The article of claim 15, wherein the client is a stateless client and further including maintaining stateful information associated with the stateless client.

19. The article of claim 15, further including collecting and storing information intended for the client and providing the stored information to the client.

20. The article of claim 15, further including processing status information associated with the client and providing the status information.
