Abstract

A patient monitoring system is disclosed herein. The patient monitoring system includes a computer adapted to assess the health of a patient, and to generate a health status indicator for the patient. The health status indicator comprising a visual gradient adapted to visually convey the assessed health of the patient. The system also includes a display operatively connected to the computer. The display is configured to display the health status indicator comprising the visual gradient.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

a computer adapted to assess the health of a patient, and to generate a health status indicator for the patient, said health status indicator comprising a visual gradient adapted to visually convey the assessed health of the patient; and

a display operatively connected to the computer, said display configured to display the health status indicator comprising the visual gradient.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein said visual gradient includes a color gradient comprising a single color hue.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein said visual gradient includes a color gradient comprising a plurality of color hues.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein said visual gradient includes a contrast gradient configured to convey a patient health assessment with a variable degree of contrast.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein said visual gradient includes an illumination gradient configured to convey a patient health assessment with a variable degree of illumination.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein said health status indicator is configured to convey a patient health assessment with a variable shape.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein said health status indicator is configured to convey a patient health assessment with a variable size.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein said health status indicator comprises raw patient data.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein said display comprises a multi-patient display.

10. A patient monitoring system comprising:

a computer adapted to generate a health status indicator for each of a plurality of patients, said health status indicator comprising a color gradient configured to visually convey a patient health assessment with a variable range of color saturation and/or intensity; and

a multi-patient display operatively connected to the computer, said multi-patient display configured to generally simultaneously display the health status indicator for each of the plurality of patients.

11. The patient monitoring system of claim 10, wherein said health status indicator comprises raw patient data.

12. The patient monitoring system of claim 10, wherein the multi-patient display is partitioned into a plurality of distinct regions that are each configured to display a separate health status indicator.

13. The patient monitoring system of claim 10, wherein said health status indicator is configured to convey a patient health assessment with a variable shape.

14. The patient monitoring system of claim 10, wherein said health status indicator is configured to convey a patient health assessment with a variable size.

15. A method comprising:

obtaining patient data from each of a plurality of patients;

implementing a computer to assess the health of each of said plurality of patients based on the patient data, and to generate a health status indicator for each of said plurality of patients, said health status indicator configured to visually convey the health assessment with a variable range of color saturation and/or intensity; and

generally simultaneously displaying the health status indicator for each of the plurality of patients.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the health status indicator is configured to convey the patient health assessment with a variable shape.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein the health status indicator is configured to convey the patient health assessment with a variable size.

18. The method of claim 15, wherein said generally simultaneously displaying the health status indicator comprises implementing a multi-patient display.
