Abstract

A method (system and computer program product) performs facet classification synthesis to relate concepts represented by concept definitions defined in accordance with a faceted data set comprising facets, facet attributes, and facet attributes hierarchies. Dimensional concept relationships are expressed between the concept definitions. Two concept definitions are determined to be related in a particular dimensional concept relationship by examining whether at least one of explicit relationships and implicit relationships exist in the faceted data set between the respective facet attributes of the two concept definitions.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method for transforming an existing complex data structure to another complex data structure, the method comprising:

(a) accessing, or facilitating the accessing of, a source data structure from one or more domains containing at least one existing complex data structure having a plurality of dimensional axes processing, or facilitating the processing of, said source data structure with a transformation engine to synthesize one or more additional dimensional axes; and

(b) synthesizing, or facilitating the synthesizing of, by one or more computer processors, another complex data structure using the one or more additional dimensional axes.

2. The computer implemented method of claim 1 wherein the transformation engine enables analysis and synthesis to process, or facilitate the processing of, the source data structure.

3. The computer implemented method of claim 1 wherein the additional dimensional axes are different and greater numerically than the plurality of dimensional axes of the existing complex data structure.

4. The computer implemented method of claim 1 wherein the one or more additional dimensional axes are defined based on facet attribute sets.

5. The computer implemented method of claim 1 wherein any set of facet attributes may be used for synthesis of the one or more additional dimensional axes.

6. The computer implemented method of claim 1 comprising the further step of providing, or facilitating the provision of, user interaction feedback to the transformation engine for complex-adaptive processing.

7. A computer system for transforming an existing complex data structure to another complex data structure, the computer system comprising:

the computer system configured to, by one or more computer processors,

(a) access, or facilitate the accessing of, a source data structure from one or more domains containing at least one existing complex data structure having a plurality of dimensional axes;

(b) process, or facilitate the processing of, said source data structure with a computer implemented transformation engine to synthesize one or more additional dimensional axes; and

(c) synthesize, or facilitate the synthesizing of, another complex data structure using the one or more additional dimensional axes.

8. The computer system of claim 7 wherein the transformation engine enables analysis and synthesis to process, or facilitate the processing of, the source data structure.

9. The computer system of claim 7 wherein the additional dimensional axes are different and greater numerically than the plurality of dimensional axes of the existing complex data structure.

10. The computer system of claim 7 wherein the one or more additional dimensional axes are defined based on facet attribute sets.

11. The computer system of claim 7 wherein the computer system is configured such that any set of facet attributes may be used for synthesis of the one or more additional dimensional axes.

12. The computer system of claim 7 wherein the computer system is configured to provide, or facilitate the provision of, user interaction feedback to the transformation engine for complex-adaptive processing.

13. The computer system of claim 7 wherein the computer system is implemented in a distributed computing environment.

14. The computer system of claim 8 wherein the transformation engine includes or is linked to an analysis engine, a morpheme lexicon and a build engine, for providing the analysis and synthesis to process, or facilitate the processing of, the source data structure.

15. A computer program product storing computer instructions to configure a computer system for transforming an existing complex data structure to another complex data structure, the computer program product comprising:

said computer instructions configuring the computer system, the computer system including one or more computer processors,

(a) to access, or facilitate the accessing of, a source data structure from one or more domains containing at least one existing complex data structure having a plurality of dimensional axes;

(b) to process, or facilitate the processing of, said source data structure with a computer implemented transformation engine to synthesize one or more additional dimensional axes; and

(c) to synthesize, or facilitate the synthesizing of, another complex data structure using the one or more additional dimensional axes.

16. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein the computer instructions further configure the computer system such that the transformation engine enables analysis and synthesis to process, or facilitate the processing of, the source data structure.

17. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein the additional dimensional axes are different and greater numerically than the plurality of dimensional axes of the existing complex data structure.

18. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein the one or more additional dimensional axes are defined based on facet attribute sets.

19. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein the computer instructions further configure the computer system such that any set of facet attributes can be used for synthesis of the one or more additional dimensional axes.

20. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein the computer instructions further configure the computer system to provide, or facilitate the provision of, user interaction feedback to the transformation engine for complex-adaptive processing.

21. The computer program product of claim 15 wherein the computer system is implemented in a distributed computing environment, and the computer instructions configure the computer system in said distributed computing environment.

The computer program product of claim 16 wherein the computer instructions configure the computer system such that the transformation engine includes or is linked to an analysis engine, a morpheme lexicon and a build engine, for providing the analysis and synthesis to process, or facilitate the processing of, the source data structure.
