Abstract

The disclosed technology provides systems, architectures, and methods for providing to a Web page electronic advertisements related to the content of the Web page. In one aspect, the disclosed technology manages and serves electronic advertisements for affiliated Web page publishers and advertisers. A computer-implemented method in accordance with the disclosed technology receives a request for an electronic advertisement for a Web page, wherein the Web page is associated with a Web page publisher, accesses one or more keywords appearing in the Web page, identifies one or more relevant electronic advertisements related to the keyword(s), wherein the relevant electronic advertisement(s) are associated with an advertiser affiliated with the Web page publisher, and communicates one or more the relevant electronic advertisements to the Web page for display. The disclosed technology also includes a computer executing software, wherein the executed software causes the computer to perform the steps above.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for managing and serving electronic advertisements for affiliated Web page publishers and advertisers, the method comprising:

receiving a request for an electronic advertisement for a Web page, wherein the Web page is associated with a Web page publisher;

accessing at least one keyword appearing in said Web page;

identifying, by a computer, at least one relevant electronic advertisement related to said at least one keyword, the at least one relevant electronic advertisement being associated with an advertiser affiliated with said Web page publisher; and

communicating at least one of said at least one relevant electronic advertisement to said Web page for display.

2. A computer-implemented method as in claim 1, wherein:

identifying at least one relevant electronic advertisement comprises identifying at least one product related to said at least one keyword, and

communicating at least one of said at least one relevant electronic advertisement comprises communicating a product image and a product price for at least one product to said Web page for display.

3. A computer-implemented method as in claim 1, further comprising:

accessing said Web page; and

scanning said Web page to identify at least one keyword appearing in said Web page in response to receiving said request for an electronic advertisement for said Web page.

4. A computer-implemented method as in claim 1, further comprising:

accessing said Web page; and

scanning said Web page periodically to identify at least one keyword appearing in said Web page, wherein at least one periodic scan occurred before receiving said request for an electronic advertisement for said Web page.

5. A computer-implemented method as in claim 1, wherein receiving a request for an electronic advertisement comprises receiving a request for an electronic advertisement associated with a particular advertiser.

6. A computer-implemented method as in claim 5, wherein identifying at least one relevant electronic advertisement related to said at least one keyword comprises:

searching a database of electronic advertisements based on said at least one keyword and said particular advertiser;

providing search results comprising at least two identified electronic advertisements associated with said particular advertiser;

accessing a score for each identified electronic advertisement; and

providing at least the highest scoring identified electronic advertisement as said at least one relevant electronic advertisement.

7. A computer-implemented method as in claim 1, wherein receiving a request for an electronic advertisement comprises receiving a request for an electronic advertisement associated with any advertiser from a particular group of advertisers.

8. A computer-implemented method as in claim 7, wherein searching a database of electronic advertisements comprises:

searching a database of electronic advertisements based on said at least one keyword and said particular group of advertisers;

providing search results comprising at least two identified electronic advertisements associated with any advertiser from said particular group of advertisers;

accessing a score for each identified electronic advertisement; and

providing at least the highest scoring identified electronic advertisement as said at least one relevant electronic advertisement.

9. A computer executing software for managing and serving electronic advertisements for affiliated Web page publishers and advertisers, wherein the executed software causes the computer to perform steps comprising:

receiving a request for an electronic advertisement for a Web page, wherein the Web page is associated with a Web page publisher;

accessing at least one keyword appearing in said Web page;

identifying, by a computer, at least one relevant electronic advertisement related to said at least one keyword, the at least one relevant electronic advertisement being associated with an advertiser affiliated with said Web page publisher; and

communicating at least one of said at least one relevant electronic advertisement to said Web page for display.

10. A computer executing software as in claim 9, wherein the executed software causes the computer to perform steps further comprising:

identifying at least one relevant electronic advertisement comprises identifying at least one product related to said at least one keyword, and

communicating at least one of said at least one relevant electronic advertisement comprises communicating a product image and a product price for at least one product to said Web page for display.

11. A computer executing software as in claim 9, wherein the executed software causes the computer to perform steps further comprising:

accessing said Web page; and

scanning said Web page to identify at least one keyword appearing in said Web page in response to receiving said request for an electronic advertisement for said Web page.

12. A computer executing software as in claim 9, wherein the executed software causes the computer to perform steps further comprising:

accessing said Web page; and

scanning said Web page periodically to identify at least one keyword appearing in said Web page, wherein at least one periodic scan occurred before receiving said request for an electronic advertisement for said Web page.

13. A computer executing software as in claim 9, wherein receiving a request for an electronic advertisement comprises receiving a request for an electronic advertisement associated with a particular advertiser.

14. A computer executing software as in claim 13, wherein identifying at least one relevant electronic advertisement related to said at least one keyword comprises:

searching a database of electronic advertisements based on said at least one keyword and said particular advertiser;

providing search results comprising at least two identified electronic advertisements associated with said particular advertiser;

accessing a score for each identified electronic advertisement; and

providing at least the highest scoring identified electronic advertisement as said at least one relevant electronic advertisement.

15. A computer executing software as in claim 9, wherein receiving a request for an electronic advertisement comprises receiving a request for an electronic advertisement associated with any advertiser from a particular group of advertisers.

16. A computer executing software as in claim 15, wherein searching a database of electronic advertisements comprises:

searching a database of electronic advertisements based on said at least one keyword and said particular group of advertisers;

providing search results comprising at least two identified electronic advertisements associated with any advertiser from said particular group of advertisers;

accessing a score for each identified electronic advertisement; and

providing at least the highest scoring identified electronic advertisement as said at least one relevant electronic advertisement.
