1. A computer-implemented method for measuring user exposure to media content items across multiple delivery mechanisms, comprising:

  • transforming a plurality of media content items to obtain a plurality of reference signatures;

    in an electronic storage device, storing the obtained reference signatures;

    monitoring user exposure to media content items delivered via a first delivery mechanism;

    transforming the media content items delivered via the first delivery mechanism to generate a first plurality of intercepted signatures;

    monitoring user exposure to media content items delivered via a second delivery mechanism;

    transforming the media content items delivered via the second delivery mechanism to generate a second plurality of intercepted signatures;

    performing a first comparison by comparing the first plurality of intercepted signatures with at least a subset of the stored reference signatures;

    responsive to the first comparison, identifying user exposure to at least one media content item delivered via the first delivery mechanism;

    performing a second comparison by comparing the second plurality of intercepted signatures with at least a subset of the stored reference signatures;

    responsive to the second comparison, identifying user exposure to at least one media content item delivered via the second delivery mechanism;

    generating at least one report indicating the identified user exposure to at least one media content item delivered via the first delivery mechanism and further indicating the identified user exposure to at least one media content item delivered via the second delivery mechanism; and

    at an output device, outputting the generated report.
