Abstract

A real-time messaging system for an image display device is provided. One disclosed embodiment includes an image display device including a light source and an image-generation device configured to receive light from the light source, and in response, generate an image. The image display device may further include a projection lens configured to display the image on a viewing surface. The image display device may also include memory and a processor operatively coupled with the memory to receive a command message sent to a select group of image display devices in real-time via a network, and upon recognizing the command message, display an alert image.

Claims

1. An image display device comprising:

a light source;

an image-generation device configured to receive light from the light source, and in response, generate an image;

a projection lens configured to display the image on a viewing surface;

memory; and

a processor operatively coupled with the memory to receive a command message sent to a select group of image display devices in real-time via a network, and upon recognizing the command message, display an alert image.

2. The image display device of claim 1, wherein the image display device is further configured to actuate a visual signal.

3. The image display device of claim 1, wherein the image display device is further configured to actuate an audio signal.

4. The image display device of claim 1, wherein recognizing the command message includes recognizing a command line interface prefix indicating a print text command.

5. The image display device of claim 1, wherein the command message includes command line interface commands indicating one or more parameters of the alert image.

6. The image display device of claim 1, wherein the image display device is further configured to receive a power command in real-time via the network, the power command changing the image display device from a powered-off state to a powered-on state.

7. The image display device of claim 1, wherein the image display device is further configured to interrupt a presentation mode of displaying a presentation image, and to adjust one or more display settings of the presentation image.

8. A method of displaying an alert image based on a command message received in real-time by an image display device, the method comprising:

receiving a command message sent to a select group of image display devices in real-time via a network, the command message including one or more parameters of an alert image;

determining if a command line interface prefix is included within the command message;

if the command line interface prefix is included within the command message, generating the alert image; and

upon generating the alert image, displaying the alert image on a viewing surface.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising adjusting one or more display settings of the image display device upon determining the command line interface prefix is included within the command message.

10. The method of claim 8, further comprising operating the image display device in a current operating state if the command line interface prefix is not included within the command message.

11. The method of claim 8, further comprising receiving a power command in real-time via the network, the power command changing the image display device from a powered-off state to a powered-on state.

12. The method of claim 8, further comprising actuating a visual signal based on a visual indicator included in the command message.

13. The method of claim 8, further comprising actuating an audio signal based on an audio indicator included in the command message.

14. The method of claim 8, wherein the alert image displayed on the viewing surface includes text.

15. The method of claim 8, further comprising interrupting the image display device in a presentation mode of displaying a presentation image and adjusting one or more display settings of the presentation image.

16. The method of claim 8, wherein the command line interface prefix indicates a print text command.

17. A method of selectively transmitting a command message in real-time to an image display device, the method comprising:

selecting an image display device from a group of image display devices;

interrupting a current mode of the image display device; and

transmitting a command message in real-time to the image display device via a network, the command message including code interpretable by the image display device for generating an alert image.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein interrupting the current mode of the image display device includes interrupting a powered-off mode of the image display device, the method further comprising, in response, powering on the image display device.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the code of the command message includes instructions for adjusting one or more display settings of the image display device.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein the code of the command message includes a command line interface prefix indicating a print text command.
