System and method for delivering and deploying an occluding device within a vessel
First Claim
1. A system for supporting and deploying an occluding device, the system comprising:
- an assembly including a guidewire having an occluding device retaining member for receiving a first end of the occluding device, a proximally positioned retaining member for engaging a second end of the occluding device;
wherein the first end of the occluding device and the second end of the occluding device is configured to move longitudinally in relation to each other about the guidewire as the occluding device is deployed into a vessel lumen.

Abstract
A system and method for deploying an occluding device that can be used to remodel an aneurysm within the vessel by, for example, neck reconstruction or balloon remodeling. The system comprises an introducer sheath and an assembly for carrying the occluding device. The assembly includes an elongated flexible member having an occluding device retaining member for receiving a first end of the occluding device, a proximally positioned retaining member for engaging a second end of the occluding device and a support surrounding a portion of the elongated flexible member over which the occluding device can be positioned. The elongated flexible member may be a integral portion formed thereof that form a coil portion.

10. A method for introducing and deploying an occluding device within a vessel, the method comprising:
-
introducing a guidewire assembly into a catheter; positioning an end of the catheter proximate a weakened wall portion of a blood vessel; advancing at least a portion of the guidewire assembly out of the catheter;
so that the guidewire moves longitudinally and radially when a first end of the occluding device moves longitudinally in relation to a second end of the occluding device, while deploying the occluding device at the weakened portion. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14)
