1. A method for coloring of a surface of an iris comprising the steps of:
- a. drying said surface of such iris to be colored;
b. applying a colorant to at least a portion of said dried surface of such iris to be colored; and
c. drying said colorant on said at least said portion of said dried surface of such iris to be colored;
d. wherein said steps of drying comprise using a cannula controlled to infuse blown gas to maintain a predetermined pressure in an anterior chamber adjacent such iris.

Abstract
A novel system for an iris of the human eye includes drying the tissue surface, applying colorant to the dried surface, and then drying the applied colorant. The system avoids tattooing, implanting, and corneal modification. Permanent results may be obtained. Colorants may be coatings or stains. Blown gas is controllably infused to maintain a constant pressure in the anterior chamber, and the blown gas is turned on and off by opening a path to the outside of the eye and closing such path, respectively.

10. A method of coloring an iris comprising the steps of:
-
a. accessing such iris; b. drying a portion of such iris of an eye containing such iris by infusing a blown gas controlled to maintain a predetermined pressure in an anterior chamber adjacent such iris and by opening a path between such anterior chamber and an outside of such eye containing such anterior chamber to initiate infusion of said blown gas; c. applying colorant to said dried portion of such iris of such eye, comprising the step of stopping said infusion of said blown gas by closing said path; d. drying said applied colorant by infusing said blowing gas controlled to maintain said predetermined pressure in such anterior chamber adjacent such iris and by opening said path to initiate infusion of said blown gas; and e. closing said access to such iris. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18)

19. A method of coloring the iris of an eye comprising the steps of:
-
a. anesthetizing such eye with at least one of a topical anesthetic, a retro bulbar anesthesia, and a peribulbar anesthesia; b. securing such eyelids in a spaced-apart relationship using an eyelid speculum; c. providing additional magnification of a portion of such iris to be colored; d. constricting the pupil of such eye using one of a pre-operative miotic and an intra-operative miotic; e. making at least one incision into an anterior chamber of such eye; f. removing residual aqueous from the angle of the anterior chamber proximate such edge of such pupil using a cannula, while avoiding damage to other intraocular structures; g. drying a portion of such iris of such eye by infusing a blown gas controlled to maintain a predetermined pressure in said anterior chamber adjacent such iris and by opening a path between such anterior chamber and an outside of such eye containing such anterior chamber to initiate infusion of said blown gas; h. applying colorant to said dried portion of such iris of such eye, comprising the step of stopping said infusion of said blown gas by closing said path; i. drying said applied colorant by infusing said blown gas controlled to maintain said predetermined pressure in such anterior chamber adjacent such iris and by opening said path to initiate infusion of said blown gas; j. exchanging said blown gas with balanced salt solution; k. providing intraocular pressure in the physiologic range; l. applying at least one of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drops to such eye; and m. removing said eyelid speculum. - View Dependent Claims (20)
