A method of managing a hybrid telecommunications network that can be implemented by a gateway between an ad hoc network and a fixed network, comprising a step of selecting, from among candidate nodes of said ad hoc network that are located one hop from said gateway and that have connectivity with said gateway that is above a predetermined threshold, at least one gateway node for relaying at least part of the traffic between other nodes of the ad hoc network and said gateway.
