Abstract

A method for processing an audio signal, comprising: receiving a downmix signal in time domain; if the downmix signal corresponds to a mono signal, bypassing the downmix signal; if the number of channel of the downmix signal corresponds to at least two, decomposing the downmix signal into a subband signal, and processing the subband signal using a downmix processing information, wherein the downmix processing information is estimated based on an object information and a mix information is disclosed.

Claims

1. A method for processing an audio signal performed by an audio coding system, comprising:

receiving a downmix signal in time domain, object information determined when the downmix signal is generated, and mix information for controlling the at least one object signal;

when the downmix signal corresponds to a mono signal, bypassing the downmix signal;

when a number of channels of the downmix signal corresponds to at least two, decomposing the downmix signal into a subband signal, and processing the subband signal using downmix processing information; and

,

generating multi-channel information using the object information and the mix information,

wherein the downmix signal comprises at least one object signal, and

wherein the downmix processing information is estimated based on the object information and the mix information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the number of channels of the downmix signal is equal to a number of channels of the processed downmix signal.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the downmix processing information corresponds to information for controlling at least one of object panning and object gain.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

generating a multi-channel signal using the processed subband signal.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising

wherein the multi-channel signal is generated based on the multi-channel information.

6. An apparatus for processing an audio signal, comprising:

an information generating unit receiving object information determined when a downmix signal is generated, and mix information for controlling at least one object signal, and generating multi-channel information using the object information and the mix information; and

,

a downmix processing unit receiving the downmix signal in time domain, bypassing the downmix signal when the downmix signal corresponds to a mono signal, and decomposing the downmix signal into a subband signal and processing the subband signal using downmix processing information when a number of channels of the downmix signal corresponds to at least two,

wherein the downmix signal comprises at least one object signal, and

wherein the downmix processing information is estimated based on the object information and the mix information.

7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the number of channels of the downmix signal is equal to number of channels of the processed downmix signal.

8. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the downmix processing information corresponds to information for controlling at least one of object panning and object gain.

9. The apparatus of claim 6, further comprising:

a multi-channel decoder generating a multi-channel signal using the processed subband signal.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the multi-channel signal is generated based on the multi-channel information.
