Abstract

In an apparatus, a receiving unit receives a request for batch registration of versions associated with a document from a client terminal apparatus. A determination unit determines whether there is a file to be registered as a version of the document, based on the request. If there is the file to be registered as the version of the document, an extraction unit extracts final updater information from the file. A registration unit registers the file as the version of the document. A setting unit sets property information such that the extracted final updater information is set as the property information of the registered version.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a receiving unit configured to receive a request for batch registration of versions associated with a document from a client terminal apparatus;

a determination unit configured to determine whether there is a file to be registered as a version of the document, based on the request;

an extraction unit configured to, if there is the file to be registered as the version of the document, extract final updater information from the file;

a registration unit configured to register the file as the version of the document; and

a setting unit configured to set property information such that the extracted final updater information is set as the property information of the registered version.

The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a document registration unit configured to, if the request includes a document name, perform file registration such that the document name is assigned to an actual file located in a first position based on a file order information included in the request, and the actual file with the assigned document name is registered,

wherein the determination unit determines whether there is a file to be registered as a version of the document, based on the file order information and actual files included in the request.

The apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a document registration unit configured to, if the request includes rule information associated with version registration, perform file registration such that a document name is assigned to one of actual files included in the request according to the rule information, and the file with the assigned document name is registered,

wherein the determination unit determines whether there is a file to be registered as a version of the document, based on the rule information and the actual files included in the request.

The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein in a case where the request includes identification information identifying an existing document, the determination unit determines whether there is a file to be registered as a version of the existing document, based on rule information associated with version registration and actual files included in the request.

5. A system including a client terminal apparatus and an apparatus,

the client terminal apparatus including:

a production unit configured to produce a request for batch registration of versions associated with a document; and

a transmitting unit configured to transmit the request to the apparatus,

the apparatus including;

a receiving unit configured to receive the request;

a determination unit configured to determine whether there is a file to be registered as a version of the document, based on the request;

an extraction unit configured to, if there is the file to be registered as the version of the document, extract final updater information from the file;

a registration unit configured to register the file as the version of the document; and

a setting unit configured to set property information such that the extracted final updater information is set as the property information of the registered version.

6. The system according to claim 5, wherein the production unit produces the request including a document name, file order information, and a plurality of actual files, based on an operation performed via a screen by a user.

7. The system according to claim 5, wherein the production unit produces the request including rule information associated with version registration and a plurality of actual files, based on an operation performed via a screen by a user.

8. The system according to claim 5, wherein the production unit produces the request so as to include identification information identifying an existing document, rule information associated with version registration, and a plurality of actual files, based on an operation performed on a screen by a user.

9. The system according to claim 5, wherein the client terminal apparatus further includes:

a batch registration result receiving unit configured to receive, from the apparatus, a result of the version registration performed in response to the request; and

a batch registration result displaying unit configured to display a list of files registered as versions, based on the result of the received version registration.

10. A method comprising:

receiving a request for batch registration of versions associated with a document from a client terminal apparatus;

determining whether there is a file to be registered as a version of the document, based on the request;

if there is the file to be registered as the version of the document, extracting final updater information from the file;

registering the file as the version of the document; and

setting property information such that the extracted final updater information is set as the property information of the registered version.

11. A method in a system including a client terminal apparatus and an apparatus, the method comprising:

in the client terminal apparatus, producing a request for batch registration of versions associated with a document;

in the client terminal apparatus, transmitting the request to the apparatus;

in the apparatus, receiving the request;

in the apparatus, determining whether there is a file to be registered as a version of the document, based on the request;

in the apparatus, if there is the file to be registered as the version of the document, extracting final updater information from the file;

in the apparatus, registering the file as the version of the document; and

in the apparatus, setting property information such that the extracted final updater information is set as the property information of the registered version.

12. A computer-readable storage medium including a program stored therein, the program causing a computer to function as:

a receiving unit configured to receive a request for batch registration of versions associated with a document from a client terminal apparatus;

a determination unit configured to determine whether there is a file to be registered as a version of the document, based on the request;

an extraction unit configured to, if there is the file to be registered as the version of the document, extract final updater information from the file;

a registration unit configured to register the file as the version of the document; and

a setting unit configured to set property information such that the extracted final updater information is set as the property information of the registered version.
