Abstract

A method of establishing connection between users of mobile devices includes receiving at a computer a location of a first user from a first mobile device, receiving from a second mobile device a location of a second user having an acquaintance relationship to the first user, and sending a message to the first mobile device based on the proximity of the first user to the second user.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for providing current status information about a first user to registered friends of the first user, the method comprising:

receiving from the first user, at a messaging server system, a text message that indicates a current status of the first user;

parsing the text message to identify the first user and a subject of the message;

using the identity of the first user to identifying one or more the registered friends of the first user;

generating a text message by using the current status of the first user; and

broadcasting the generated text message to the one or more friends.
