Abstract
A security and surveillance system for aircraft on the ground incorporates a plurality of strategically spaced sensors including video imaging generators, audio sensors, motion detectors, and fire and smoke detectors for monitoring critical components and critical areas of both the interior and the exterior of the a commercial transport such as an aircraft. The system is a comprehensive multi-media safety, tracking and/or surveillance system, which provides both visual and/or audio information as well as critical data such as location, direction, intrusion, fire and/or smoke detection and/or status of environmental conditions and/or asset systems status. The collected information is analyzed and prioritized according to type of event, location and nature of required response for automatically dispatching the proper response. The captured data and images are transmitted to a ground based security station for display on a monitor and may be recorded on a “black box” recorder as well as on a ground based recording system.

64. A monitoring system comprising:

a plurality of sensors located to monitor a plurality of locations, each sensor having a sensor location identifier suitable to identify a location of said each sensor, each sensor being adapted to generate a data signal upon occurrence of a detected event, each data signal providing at least one event type indicator, the at least one event type indicator corresponding to at least one of a plurality of event types; a plurality of surveillance cameras each corresponding to at least one sensor, each surveillance camera providing digital image data of a scene viewed by the camera; a plurality of response assets, each response asset having a response asset location identifier suitable to identify a location of said each response asset, each response asset having at least one response asset event identifier selected from a plurality of response asset event identifiers; a communication system, the communication system being adapted to receive each data signal, the communication system being adapted to receive each data signal, in response to receiving at least one of the following; a data signal, and digital image data,
the communication system being adapted to provide to at least one response asset an event alert, the event alert being provided to the at least one response asset based upon relative comparison among the plurality of response assets of both of the following;correlation between said at least one response asset event identifier and said at least one event type indication, and correlation between said at least one sensor location identifier and said response asset location identifier; and the communication system being adapted to provide to the at least one response asset digital image data relating to a location of the data signal relating to the event alert.

65. A monitoring system comprising:

a plurality of sensors located to monitor a plurality of locations, each sensor having a sensor location identifier suitable to identify a location of said sensor, said sensor being adapted to generate a data signal upon occurrence of a detected event; a plurality of response assets, each response asset having a response asset location identifier suitable to identify a location of said response asset, said response asset having at least one response asset event identifier selected from a plurality of response asset event identifiers; and a communication system adapted to receive each data signal, in response to receiving at least one data signal the communication system being adapted to provide to at least one response asset an event alert, the event alert being provided to the at least one response asset based upon the following; the at least one data signal being categorized according to at least one event category; for each event category the response assets being ranked by capability, at least one most capable response asset being identified by comparing to the event type the at least one response asset event identifier of each response asset; for each capable response asset, at least one closest capable response asset being identified, the at least one closest capable response asset being identified by comparing relative response time to reach the sensor location identifier and the response asset location identifiers.

66. A method for alerting response personnel, monitoring a location for the occurrence of an event, collecting information relating to the event, prioritizing the information and dispatching an appropriate response based on the prioritized information, the method comprising the steps of:

placing strategically located sensors having a geographic location identifier in a position adapted for monitoring the location, said sensors further adapted for generating a data signal upon the occurrence of an event; providing response personnel and equipment with receivers adapted for receiving selected collected and analyzed data; further providing response personnel and equipment with location sensors for generating a location signal identifying their geographic location at any point in time; collecting and analyzing the data signal in order to determine the time, location and type of event; and alerting and dispatching appropriate response personnel and equipment to the location of the event based on their proximity and resources relative to the event.
