Abstract

End to end acknowledgment of SMS messages based on sending an acknowledgement back to the sender of the SMS that the message was received after successful delivery.

Claims

1. A method that acknowledges messages comprising:

receiving a short message service (SMS) message at a cellular phone from a sending cellular phone;

automatically calling the sending cellular phone for the purposes of making a missed called to indicate receipt of the SMS message.

2. A method that receives acknowledgement of a message comprising:

transmitting a short message service (SMS) message from a cellular phone to a receiving device;

receiving a missed call at the cellular phone from the receiving device and automatically interpreting the missed called as an acknowledgement from the receiving device that the SMS message was received.

3. A computer readable medium having program code thereon operable to control a cell phone to send an acknowledgment message to the sender of an SMS message by automatically placing a call to a sending device that sent the SMS message and automatically terminating the call before being answered at the sending device.
