A method for selectively controlling weeds on lawn or turf, characterized by applying (A) one or more herbicides (A) [type (A) herbicides], optionally together, before or after the application of one or more other active ingredients selected from the group consisting of (B) other herbicides [type (B) herbicides] useful in the treatment of lawn or turf, and optionally (C) other active ingredients [type (C) active ingredients] useful in the treatment of lawn or turf,to the weeds, parts of the weed plants, seeds of the weed plants or the area under cultivation where the plants of lawn or turf are growing, sown or to be sown, wherein herbicides (A) are one or more compounds of the formula (I) or salts thereof, whereR1 is H or a group of the formula CZ1Z2Z3, whereZ1 is H, halogen, (C1-C6)alkyl, (C1-C6)haloalkyl, [(C1-C4)alkoxy]-(C1-C6)alkyl, (C3-C6)cycloalkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more radicals selected from the group consisting of halogen, (C1-C4)alkyl and (C1-C4)haloalkyl, or is(C2-C6)alkenyl, (C2-C6)alkinyl, (C2-C6)haloalkenyl, (C4-C6)cycloalkenyl, (C4-C6)halocycloalkenyl, (C1-C6)alkoxy or (C1-C6)haloalkoxy,Z2 is H, halogen, (C1-C6)alkyl or (C1-C4)alkoxy, orZ1 and Z2 together with the carbon atom of the group CZ1Z2Z3 represent (C3-C6)cycloalkyl or (C4-C6)cycloalkenyl, where each of the two last-mentioned radicals is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more radicals selected from the group consisting of (C1-C4)alkyl, andZ3 is H, (C1-C6)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkoxy or halogen,R2 and R3 independently of one another are H, (C1-C4)alkyl, (C1-C4)haloalkyl, (C3-C4)alkenyl, (C3-C4)haloalkenyl, (C3-C4)alkinyl, (C3-C4)haloalkinyl or an acyl group,R4 is H, (C1-C6)alkyl or (C1-C6)alkoxy,R5, R6, R7 and R8 independently of one another are H, (C1-C4)alkyl, (C1-C3)haloalkyl, halogen, (C1-C3)alkoxy, (C1-C3)haloalkoxy or cyano, andA is a divalent group of the formula CH2 or O or is a direct bond,
