1. A device for the determination of at least one compression parameter during administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a patient comprising:

  • a field generator adapted to generate a field;

    a field detector adapted to detect the field generator by the field generator and generate a response signal; and

    a processor adapted to determine from the response signal position information for the field detector relative to the field generator, and to determine the at least one compression parameter using the determined position information of the field detector;

    wherein one of the field generator and the field detector is a position sensor adapted to move in accordance with a patient'"'"'s chest and the other of the field generator and the field detector is a reference sensor adapted to be stationary relative to the patient.
