Abstract

A cartridge containing a fastener. The cartridge has an elongated sheath containing at least one tissue penetrating member. The penetrating member at least partially houses a fastener. The fastener has at least two anchors connected together by a non-resilient flexible suture which does not resist deformation under compressible loads. The cartridge further includes a means for deploying the anchors, wherein the means is movable within the sheath.

Claims

1. A cartridge containing a fastener comprising:

a. an elongated sheath containing at least one tissue penetrating member,

b. said penetrating member at least partially houses a fastener;

c. said fastener comprising at least two anchors connected together by a non-resilient flexible suture which does not resist deformation under compressible loads; and

d. a means for deploying said anchors, said means movable within said sheath.

2. The cartridge of claim 1 wherein said cartridge further includes a needle for deploying said fastener.

3. The cartridge of claim 2 wherein said needle is off set from a center of said cartridge.

4. The cartridge of claim 2 wherein said needle has a slot extending from a distal end at least partially back towards a proximal end of said needle.

5. The cartridge of claim 2 wherein said needle has a cross section perpendicular to a longitudinal axis which is non-circular.
