Abstract

Various embodiments for remote presentation of an interface of a computing device, such as a PC, are described herein. In particular, in various illustrated embodiments, a local device such as a Digital Media Adapter (DMA), mobile device, cellular telephone, etc. may be used to receive input from a remote control, where the local device provides human perceptible feedback, such as a sound, visual response, etc., responsive to use of the remote control. In some embodiments, the local device may contain a memory or cache for locally storing particular feedback data for human perceptible feedback. In various embodiments, a communication protocol is provided for storing, triggering, deleting, etc. feedback data in the memory or cache. Other embodiments may be disclosed or claimed.

Claims

1. A system for communicatively coupling with a computing device having an interface and a feedback data corresponding to human perceptible feedback to present to a remote user, the system comprising:

a control operable by the remote user;

a digital media adapter communicatively coupled to the control, and configured to present the interface, and configured to present the human perceptible feedback responsive to an operation of the control; and

a memory communicatively coupled with the digital media adapter, the first memory configured to store at least the feedback data.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the memory is disposed within the digital media adapter.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the memory is configured to store a data structure comprising:

a first portion for storing an identifier for the feedback data; and

a second portion for storing the feedback data.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the memory is further configured to store another feedback data associated with another computing device having another interface and the another feedback data corresponding to another human perceptible feedback to present to the remote user.

5. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

another memory communicatively coupled with the digital media adapter, and configured to persistently store another feedback data corresponding to another human perceptible feedback.

6. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

a logic arrangement communicatively coupled with at least the digital media adapter and the memory, wherein the logic arrangement is configured to store the feedback data in the memory.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the logic arrangement is further configured to persistently store the feedback data in the memory.

8. The system of claim 1, in which the control operable by the remote user includes a key, the system further comprising:

a logic arrangement communicatively coupled with at least the digital media adapter and the memory, wherein the logic arrangement is configured to bind activation of feedback data stored in the memory with the key of the control.

9. The system of claim 1, further comprising a logic arrangement communicatively coupled with at least the digital media adapter and the memory, wherein the logic arrangement is configured to perform selected one or ones of:

storing feedback data in the memory;

triggering feedback data stored in the memory; and

clearing feedback data out of the memory.

10. A method for presenting an interface of a remote computing device to a user, the method comprising:

receiving by a computing device, data from a remote control identifying at least an activation by the user of a feature of the remote control; and

determining whether a memory contains feedback data associated with said activated feature of the remote control, and if so, then presenting said associated feedback data, wherein the feedback data corresponds to human perceptible feedback for presentation to the user, and wherein feedback data stored in the memory are associated with at least the feature of the remote control; and

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

determining the memory does not contain feedback data associated with said activated feature of the remote control;

providing to the remote computing device an identification of said activated feature; and

receiving from the remote computing device a request to present a particular feedback data stored in the memory.

12. The method of claim 10, wherein the method is performed within a Digital Media Adapter.

13. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

receiving a request from the remote computing device to modify the memory storing feedback data, wherein the requested modification is a selected one of;

deleting feedback data from the memory;

storing feedback data in the memory;

triggering feedback data stored in the memory; and

clearing feedback data out of the first memory.

14. An article comprising a tangible machine accessible media having machine executable instructions associated with presenting an interface of a remote computing device to a user, said instructions, upon accessed by an apparatus, results in the apparatus:

receiving data from a remote control identifying at least an activation by the user of a feature of the remote control; and

determining whether a memory contains feedback data associated with said activated feature of the remote control, and if so, then presenting said associated feedback data, wherein the feedback data corresponds to human perceptible feedback for presentation to the user, and wherein feedback data stored in the memory are associated with at least the feature of the remote control.

15. The article of claim 14, wherein the associated data further includes instruction, which when accessed by apparatus, results in the apparatus:

determining the memory does not contain feedback data associated with said activated feature of the remote control;

providing to the remote computing device an identification of said activated feature; and

receiving from the remote computing device a request to present a particular feedback data stored in the memory.

16. The article of claim 14, wherein the associated instructions further includes instruction, which when accessed by the apparatus, results in the apparatus:

receiving a request from the remote computing device to modify the memory storing feedback data, wherein the requested modification is a selected on of;

deleting feedback data from the memory;

storing feedback data in the memory;

triggering feedback data stored in the memory; and

clearing feedback data out of the first memory.
