Abstract

A proportioning dispenser of concentrated chemical mixed in a diluent such as water includes a water valve, an in-line water pressure regulator downstream of the valve and an eductor downstream of the regulator. When the valve is open, water flows to the regulator, and a pressure regulated water flow passes to the eductor when the valve is closed, no water flows to the regulator, which sees pressurized water only when the water valve is open during a dispensing cycle. More accurate dilution ratios are achieved over a wide range of incoming water line pressures. In an alternate embodiment, a water valve and a regulator are formed in a common housing with the regulator operationally downstream of the valve.

Claims

1. A proportioning dispenser including a water valve and an eductor, and including

an in-line water pressure regulator operably disposed between said water valve and said eductor.

2. A dispenser as in claim 1 wherein said water valve has an open position and wherein said regulator regulates pressure of water flowing to said eductor when said wafer valve is in said open position to pass water to said regulator.

3. A dispenser as in claim 2 wherein said water valve has a second position for blocking water flow and said regulator is not exposed to water pressure when said water valve is in said closed position preventing water from flowing to said regulator.

4. A chemical dispenser for connection to a source of water for mixing a chemical into a water stream, said dispenser comprising

a water valve having a water inlet and a water outlet, said valve in one position passing water therethrough and in another position blocking water from passing therethrough;

an in-line water pressure regulator having a water inlet operably connected to said water outlet for receiving water passing through said valve, and an outlet for pressure regulated water, and

an eductor having an inlet for receiving pressure regulated water passing from the pressure regulated wafer outlet of said water pressure regulator for drawing a chemical into a water flow passing through said eductor.

5. A dispenser as in claim 4 further including a back flow prevent or operably coupled between said pressure regulated water outlet and said eductor.

6. A proportioner including:

a water valve;

a chemical eductor; and

an in-line water pressure regulator operatively coupled between said water valve and said chemical eductor.

7. A proportioner as in claim 6 further including a back flow preventer operatively coupled between said pressure regulator and said eductor.

8. A method of dispensing a concentrated chemical in a diluent from a dispenser having a water valve and an eductor for drawing concentrated chemical into water flowing in said eductor said method comprising the step of:

regulating the pressure of diluent flowing between said valve and said eductor at a location therebetween.

9. A proportioning dispenser apparatus including a water valve and a pressure regulator for regulating pressure of water flow, said apparatus comprising:

a housing;

a water valve operably disposed in said housing;

a pressure regulator operably disposed in said housing;

said pressure regulator being operably coupled to said valve within said housing for receiving water flow from said valve and regulating pressure of water flowing through said housing downstream of said water valve.

10. A water valve and pressure regulator each operably disposed in an integral housing,

said regulator receiving water from said valve in said housing and regulating pressure of water flowing from said regulator and said housing downstream of said valve.
