Abstract

The invention provides for techniques to process and produce email documents. The techniques provide for organizing a first plurality of email documents into a plurality of document groups, reviewing a document group from the plurality of document groups, and associating a review content with the document group. The techniques provide for ways to propagate the review content to one or more email documents associated with the document group and producing a second plurality of email documents. The techniques provide for annotating one or more email documents in accordance with the review content. Depending on the embodiment, review content may include text, graphics, audio, tag, and multimedia information. Produced documents can be searched and browsed in accordance with information in the review content. Email documents can be grouped by information in meta information and/or header information associated with the email documents into various groups, including threads or conversations, for example.

Claims

1. A method for processing and producing email documents, the method comprising:

organizing a first plurality of email documents into a plurality of document groups;

reviewing a document group from the plurality of document groups, the document group including one or more email documents associated with the document group;

associating a review content with the document group;

propagating the review content to the one or more email documents; and

producing a second plurality of email documents, the second plurality of email documents including the one or more email documents.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising annotating the one or more email documents in accordance with the review content.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the review content includes text information.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the review content includes image information.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the review content includes graphics information.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the review content includes audio information.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein the review content includes multimedia information.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the review content includes tag information.

9. The method of claim 1 further comprising organizing the second plurality of email documents so the second plurality of email documents can be searched in accordance with information in the review content.

10. The method of claim 1 further comprising organizing the second plurality of email documents so the second plurality of email documents can be browsed in accordance with information in the review content.

11. The method of claim 1 wherein the review content includes redacting information.

12. The method of claim 11 further comprising redacting one or more portion of the one or more email documents in accordance with the redacting information.

13. The method of claim 1 wherein the organizing of the first plurality of email documents includes organizing the first plurality of email documents in accordance with meta information associated with the first plurality of email documents.

14. The method of claim 1 wherein the organizing of the first plurality of email documents includes organizing the first plurality of email documents in accordance with header information associated with the first plurality of email documents.

15. The method of claim 1 wherein the organizing of the first plurality of email documents includes organizing the first plurality of email documents in accordance with date information associated with the first plurality of email documents.

16. The method of claim 1 wherein the organizing of the first plurality of email documents includes organizing the first plurality of email documents in accordance with sender information associated with the first plurality of email documents.

17. The method of claim 1 wherein the organizing of the first plurality of email documents includes organizing the first plurality of email documents in accordance with receiver information associated with the first plurality of email documents.

18. The method of claim 1 wherein the organizing of the first plurality of email documents includes organizing the first plurality of email documents into a plurality of email threads.

19. The method of claim 1 wherein the review of the document group includes reviewing the one or more email documents associated with the document group.

20. The method of claim 1 wherein the review of the document group includes reviewing a subset of the one or more email documents associated with the document group.

21. The method of claim 1, the one or more email documents including at least one multiply annotated email document, the at least one multiply annotated email document associated with a plurality of review contents, wherein the multiply annotated email document is annotated in accordance with an aggregation of the plurality of review contents.

22. A system for processing and producing email documents, the system comprising:

a memory configured to store a first plurality of email documents; and

a processor configured to;

organize the first plurality of email documents into a plurality of document groups;

review a document group from the plurality of document groups, the document group including one or more email documents associated with the document group;

associate a review content with the document group;

propagate the review content to the one or more email documents; and

produce a second plurality of email documents, the second plurality of email documents including the one or more email documents.

23. The system of claim 22 wherein the processor is further configured to annotate the one or more email documents in accordance with the review content.

24. The system of claim 22 wherein the processor is further configured to organize the second plurality of email documents in accordance with the review content.

25. The system of claim 22 wherein the processor is further configured to render the second plurality of email documents to be searchable in accordance with information in the review content.

26. The system of claim 22 wherein the processor is further configured to render the second plurality of email documents to be browsed in accordance with information in the review content.

27. A computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions for controlling a data processor to process and produce email documents, the plurality of instructions comprising:

instructions that cause the data processor to;

organize a first plurality of email documents into a plurality of document groups;

review a document group from the plurality of document groups, the document group including one or more email documents associated with the document group;

associate a review content with the document group;

propagate the review content to the one or more email documents; and

produce a second plurality of email documents, the second plurality of email documents including the one or more email documents.

28. The computer-readable medium of claim 27 wherein the data processor is further configured to annotate the one or more email documents, each of the one or more email documents annotated in accordance with the review content.

29. The computer-readable medium of claim 27 wherein the data processor is further configured to organize the second plurality of email documents in accordance with the review content.

30. The computer-readable medium of claim 27 wherein the data processor is further configured to render the second plurality of email documents to be searchable in accordance with information in the review content.

31. The computer-readable medium of claim 27 wherein the data processor is further configured to render the second plurality of email documents to be browsed in accordance with information in the review content.
