Abstract

A detection system (100) is described for detecting analytes in a fluid sample. The detection system (100) comprises a transporting means (6) for transporting magnetic and/or electric labels (5) after interaction between the sample fluid and the reagents towards a detection receptacle (1). The detection receptacle (1) is initially substantially magnetic and/or electric label (5) free. By transporting the magnetic and/or electric labels (5) after reaction, interference between unreacted reagents and magnetic and/or electric label-assisted detection can be reduced.

Claims

1. A detection system (100) prepared for detecting at least one target molecule, the detection system (100) comprising

at least a first receptacle (1) comprising a detection surface (4), the at least a first receptacle (1) being substantially free of magnetic and/or electric labels prior to use,

at least a second receptacle (2) comprising, prior to use, at least one magnetic and/or electric label (5) for enabling magnetic and/or electric label assisted detection, the at least one magnetic and/or electric label (5) being adapted for interacting with the at least one target molecule,

a magnetic and/or electric field generator (6) for enabling transport of the at least one magnetic and/or electric label (5) from at least the second receptacle (2) to at least the first receptacle (1), thereby enabling detection of a magnetic and/or electric label assisted detection signal.

2. A detection system (100) according to claim 1, wherein said magnetic and/or electric label (5) is a magnetic label.

3. A detection system (100) according to claim 1, wherein the detection system (100) is adapted for enabling a fluid flow from the at least a first receptacle (1) to the at least a second receptacle (2).

A detection system (100) according to claim 3, wherein the detection system (100) comprises at least a first channel (3) for connecting the at least a first receptacle (1) and the at least a second receptacle (2), the first channel (3) being adapted for enabling said fluid flow from the at least a first receptacle (1) to the at least a second receptacle (2) by capillary action.

5. A detection system (100) according to claim 1, wherein the at least a first receptacle (1) and/or the at least a second receptacle (2) are in contact with fluid flow rate modifying moieties (71, 72).

6. A detection system (100) according to claim 1, wherein the at least a first receptacle comprises a detection surface for the enabling detection of a magnetic and/or electric label assisted detection signal, the detection surface having different locations for detection of different targets.

7. A detection system (100) according to claim 1, the detection system (100) comprising a fluid detector (9) in the at least a first receptacle (1) and/or the at least a second receptacle (2).

A detection system (100) according to claim 1, the detection system (100) comprising a further receptacle (402) for comprising secondary magnetic and/or electric labels (404) and a further magnetic and/or electric field generator (406) for enabling transport of the additional magnetic and/or electric labels from the additional receptacle to the at least a first receptacle (1).

9. A detection system (100) according to claim 1, the at least a first receptacle (1) adapted for allowing interaction between the sample and assay reagent.

10. A detection system (100) according to claim 1, the at least a second receptacle (2) adapted for allowing interaction between the sample, assay reagent and the magnetic and/or electric labels (5).

11. A method (200) for detecting at least one target molecule, the method (200) comprising the steps of

allowing interaction (202) between the sample and at least one magnetic and/or electric label to thereby obtain at least one magnetically and/or electric labelled target molecule,

magnetically and/or electric transporting (204) the at least one magnetic and/or electric label to a detection surface,

and after said allowing of interaction (202) and transporting (204) the at least one magnetic and/or electric label,

detecting (207) at least one magnetic and/or electric label assisted detection signal.

12. A method (200) according to claim 11, wherein transporting (204) the at least one magnetic and/or electric label comprises transporting the at least one magnetically and/or electric labelled target molecule obtained by said allowing interaction (202).

13. A method (200) according to claim 11, wherein allowing interaction (202) comprises allowing (202) interaction between the sample and at least one magnetic and/or electric label after said transporting said magnetic and/or electric label to a detection surface.

14. A sensor component (300) prepared for use with a detection system (100) for detecting at least one target molecule, the sensor component (300) comprising

at least a first receptacle (1) comprising a detection surface (4), the at least a first receptacle (1) being substantially magnetic and/or electric label-free prior to use,

at least a second receptacle (2) comprising, prior to use, at least one magnetic and/or electric label (5) for enabling magnetic and/or electric label assisted detection, the at least one magnetic and/or electric label (5) adapted for interacting with the at least one target molecule,

the sensor component (300) adapted for enabling transport of the at least one magnetic and/or electric label (5) from the at least a second receptacle (2) to the at least a first receptacle (1) using a magnetic and/or electric field.
