1. A method of routing a telephone communication, the method comprising the steps of:
- detecting an incoming telephone call to a primary telephone number;
retrieving location or presence information associated with a user associated with the primary telephone number; and
routing, based on the location or presence information, the telephone call simultaneously to each of a plurality of telephony devices associated with the user that are determined to be proximate the user.

Abstract
A telecommunication system routes an incoming call to one or more telephony devices associated with a user, including personal digital assistants and other remote devices, based on the called party'"'"'s historical call pattern created and updated by the system. The system enhances the routing using location or presence information. The call routing is designed to route calls to targeted devices to increase the likelihood that the call is answered by the intended called party while also alleviating the need to place multiple calls in an attempt to locate the called party.

9. A method of routing a telephone communication, the method comprising the steps of:
-
detecting an incoming telephone call to a primary telephone number; retrieving location or presence information associated with the user associated with the primary telephone number; determining, based on the location or presence information, an ordering of a plurality of telephony devices associated with the user to prioritize telephony devices determined to be proximate to the user; and sequentially routing the telephone call according to the determined ordering of telephony devices until the call is answered. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14)

15. A telecommunications system comprising:
-
a computer readable storage medium having a database comprising a plurality of user profiles, each profile being associated with a respective telephone extension of the system, and a plurality of user call patterns associated with each extension; and a processor configured to route an incoming telephone call placed to one of the telephone extensions by; detecting the called extension from the incoming telephone call, retrieving location or presence information associated with the user associated with the called extension, optionally retrieving a call pattern of a user associated with the called extension using the detected called extension as an index into the database; and selecting, based on the location or presence information and the optionally retrieved call pattern, which of a plurality of telephony devices associated with the user determined to be proximate the user to route the incoming telephone call to. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
