Abstract

The invention provides system and method wherein the system collects user activity data including call log information from network equipment, handset and other context specific user activity data including time of call and location information to enable various applications to use the information collected and build social network. In accordance with the method of the invention, the user activity data collected is used to form individual social networks. The networks are formed based on clusters identified by mining the data collected. Furthermore, various applications are provided access to the clustered data to assist in individual social networking. The system of the invention comprises of an application server comprising a centralized data center providing social networking services through a plurality of networks, the networks in-turn connecting a plurality of users through their individual network terminal stations to the application server.

Claims

1. A method of facilitating ready social networking, comprising:

collecting user activity data centrally at an application server from plurality of and user stations and network equipment, to form a ready social network of users interacting with each other without said users actively seeking to form a social network

mining the user activity data collected for each said user to form and propose clusters relevant for each said user

providing an application programming interface (API) based on the data available

providing an application services module that provides plurality of application services using said API to said users with stations

providing an user interface at each of said users'"'"' stations to be able to access said application services and said API through the stations

2. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 1, the method further comprising steps of user enriching his ready social network by using tags to group other users in the ready social network

3. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 2, the method further comprising steps of the application server using tag information to refine clusters relevant to the user

4. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein the user activity data collected is call log information from said plurality of network equipment

5. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein the user activity data collected is call log information from a user'"'"'s station

6. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein the user activity data collected is data relating to the location of a user'"'"'s station, and data relating to calls involving the user comprising duration of calls and time of calls

7. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein a user'"'"'s social network is determined by identifying other users with whom the user is interacting with frequently, the data being available from the user'"'"'s activity data

8. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein the clusters formed are clusters of various users a particular user is possibly interested in grouping together to communicate effectively in a ready social network

9. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein the API is an interface to access said clustered data for a plurality of applications

10. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein content sharing within the ready social network is an application service

11. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein a market place for buying and selling goods and services is an application service

12. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein a facility to identify people interested in dating is an application service

13. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein a facility to identify people with similar professional interests is an application service

14. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein a facility to find people in a new location that a user is traveling to is an application service

15. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein a facility to find people within a specified number of hops in the network is an application service

16. A method of facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 3 wherein providing blog facility is an application service

17. A system facilitating ready social networking, comprising:

a application server adapted to collect user activity data from plurality of end user stations and network equipment, analyze the data collected to form clusters relevant for each of said plurality of users, and provide a ready social network API

an application services module that uses said API to provide plurality of social networking services to said plurality of users

station at a user'"'"'s end adapted to communicate with said application services module and said API to access a plurality of services, the said station further adapted to display information using a user interface (UI) module for selection, viewing and navigation, and said station also adapted to upload user activity data from said station to said application server

a network data loader to collect user activity data to upload to said application server using a plurality of messaging service center (MSC) adaptors.

18. A system facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 17 wherein application server is a server capable of running a plurality of applications.

19. A system facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 17 wherein sad API is accessible using Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP).

20. A system facilitating ready social networking as claimed in claim 17 wherein said API is accessible using Hyper Text Transport Protocol (HTTP).
