Abstract

An electrical system, which includes a light switch housing and an AC-to-DC converter carried by the light switch housing. The electrical system includes an input power line which provides an AC signal to an input of the converter and an output power line coupled to an output of the converter. An electrical device operates in response to receiving an output signal from the output power line, wherein the output signal is a DC signal.

Claims

1. An electrical system, comprising:

a control assembly which includes an electrical controller operatively coupled to an AC-to-DC converter, wherein the electrical controller and AC-to-DC converter are positioned proximate to each other;

wherein the electrical control assembly provides a DC signal, when the electrical controller is activated, in response to receiving an AC signal; and

an electrical device which operates in response to receiving the DC signal.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the electrical control assembly does not provide the DC signal, when the electrical controller is deactivated, in response to receiving the AC signal.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the electrical controller is a light switch assembly.

4. The system of claim 3, further including a light switch housing, wherein the electrical controller and AC-to-DC converter are carried by the light switch housing.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the AC-to-DC converter is housed by the light switch housing.

6. The system of claim 1, further including an electrical device operatively coupled to the control assembly, wherein the electrical device operates in response to the electrical controller being activated.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the electrical device is a solid-state light emitting device.

8. An electrical system, comprising:

a light switch housing;

an AC-to-DC converter carried by the light switch housing;

an input power line which provides an AC signal to an input of the converter; and

an output power line coupled to an output of the converter.

9. The system of claim 9, further including a light switch operatively coupled to the AC-to-DC converter.

10. The system of claim 9 further including an electrical device in communication with the output power line.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the electrical device operates in response to receiving a DC signal from the output power line.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the DC signal is provided to the output power line in response to the switch being activated.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the DC signal is driven below a threshold level in response to the switch being deactivated.

14. An electrical system, comprising:

an electrical device which operates in response to receiving a DC signal;

a light switch assembly which includes a light switch operatively coupled to an AC-to-DC converter, wherein the light switch assembly provides the DC signal to the electrical device in response to the light switch being activated.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the light switch does not provide the DC signal to the electrical device in response to the light switch being deactivated.

16. The system of claim 14, wherein the light switch assembly drives the DC signal to a level below a threshold level in response to the light switch being deactivated.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the light switch assembly includes a light switch housing which carries the AC-to-DC converter and light switch.

18. The system of claim 14, wherein the light switch assembly operates as a dimmer switch.

19. The system of claim 14, wherein the electrical device is a solid-state light emitting device.

20. The system of claim 14, further including an electrical controller which provides a control signal S_Control to the electrical device.
