Abstract

Described herein is a novelty item and method for creating a novelty item that delivers a personalized message at the same time that at least a first sensory action occurs. The personalized message can be audio or visual and the sensory action can be audible, physical, visual or olfactory. The invention further provides a message can be rerecorded numerous times until a satisfactory message has been recorded. The invention further provides means for disabling the recording mechanism after satisfactory vocals are recorded.

Claims

1. A novelty item, comprising:

an electronic module comprising;

at least one chip for storing data and for controlling the electronic module;

a first means for closing the electronic module such that at least a first recorded sound is played back;

a second means for closing the module such that the first recorded sound is played back and a message is recorded at the same time as the first recorded sound is being played back;

whereby thereafter, when the first switch is closed, the first recorded sound and the message are played back at the same time.

2. The novelty item of claim 1 further comprising a third means for closing the module such that the speed of the playback of the message changes.

3. The novelty item of claim 1 further comprising a third means for closing the module such that the speed of the playback of the message and the first recorded sound changes.

4. The novelty item of claim 1 further comprising a third switch for closing the module such that at least the message is altered.

5. The novelty item of claim 1 further comprising a visual display wherein the message is visibly displayed on the visual display.

6. The novelty item of claim 1, further comprising a second recorded sound, wherein the second recorded sound is played back only when the first means for closing closes the module and there is no recorded message.

7. The novelty item of claim 1, further comprising means for selecting the first recorded sound.

8. The novelty item of claim 1 further comprising a sensory effect that occurs at the same time as the recorded message is played back.

9. A novelty item comprising:

an electronic module, comprising;

at least one chip for storing data and for controlling the electronic module;

first means for closing the module such that the chip causes at least a first sensory action to occur;

second means for closing the module such that the chip causes the sensory action to occur while a first message is created and stored on the chip;

whereby thereafter, when the first means for closing closes the module, the chip causes the first sensory action to occur at the same time that the created first message is played back.

10. The novelty item of claim 9 further comprising a third means for closing the module such that the chip changes the speed of the playback of the first message.

11. The novelty item of claim 9 further comprising a third means for closing the module such that the chip changes the speed of the playback of the message and the first sensory action.

12. The novelty item of claim 9 further comprising a third means for closing the module such that the chip processes the first message such that the playback of the first message is altered.

13. The novelty item of claim 9, further comprising a visual display and wherein the first message is a visual message that is displayed on the visual display.

14. The novelty item of claim 9 wherein the first message is a video that is recorded onto the chip.

15. The novelty item of claim 9 further comprising a second message, wherein the second message is played back only when the first switch closes the module and there has been no created first message.

16. The novelty item of claim 9, further comprising means for selecting the first sensory action.

17. The novelty item of claim 9 further comprising a second sensory action that occurs at the same time as the recorded message is played back.

18. A method for creating a audible novelty item with a personalized message, comprising the steps of:

closing a module so that at least a first recorded sound is played back;

closing the module so that, as the first recorded sound begins to play, a message is recorded at the same time as the first recorded sound is being played;

whereby thereafter when the module is closed, the message is played back at the same time as the first recorded sound.

19. The method of claim 18 further comprising the step of closing the module wherein the speed of the playback of the message and the first recorded sounds changes.

20. The method of claim 18 further comprising the step of closing the module wherein the speed of the playback of the message changes.

21. The method of claim 18 further comprising the step of closing the module wherein the playback of the message is altered.

22. The method of claim 18 further comprising the step of selecting the first sound.

23. The method of claim 18 further comprising the step of closing the module so that a sensory effect occurs at the same time that the first sound is played back.

24. A method for creating karaoke in a novelty item comprising the steps of closing a module causing music to play and prerecorded vocals to play until the module is closed again such that only music is played back and other vocals are recorded, and thereafter closing the module again so that just the music and the latest recorded vocals are played back.

25. The method of claim 24 wherein the step of recording other vocals is repeated until satisfactory other vocals are recorded.

26. The method of claim 24 wherein the step of recording other vocals is permanently disabled after satisfactory other vocals are recorded.

27. The method of claim 24 further comprising the steps of closing the module wherein the speed of the playback of the other vocals is altered.

28. The method of claim 24 further comprising the steps of closing the module wherein the speed of the playback of the music and other vocals are altered.

29. The method of claim 24 further comprising the steps of processing the other vocals prior their being played back so that they sound different than when they were originally recorded.

30. The method of claim 24 further comprising the steps of recording a video that is played back when the other vocals are played.

31. A method for creating a personalized message comprising the steps of:

closing a module causing a first sensory action to occur;

closing the module such that a personalized message is created and recorded for playback;

whereby thereafter when the module is closed again, the first sensory action occurs at the same time that the personalized message is played back.

32. The method of claim 31 wherein the step of creating a personalized message is repeated until a satisfactory personalized message is created.

33. The method of claim 31 wherein the step of creating a personalized message is permanently disabled after a satisfactory personalized message is created.

34. The method of claim 31 further comprising the steps of closing the module wherein the speed of the playback of the personalized message is altered.

35. The method of claim 31 further comprising the steps of closing the module wherein the personalized message is altered.

36. The method of claim 31 further comprising the step of closing the module wherein a second sensory action occurs at the same time as the recorded message is played back
