Abstract

A storage medium with built-in antenna includes circuit board on which semiconductor element is placed, first and second magnetic layers sandwiching semiconductor element and circuit board, and first and second antenna coils disposed on first and second magnetic layers. First and second antenna coils are connected in parallel on a flexible sheet. First and second antenna coils are folded at the sides of first and second magnetic layers, respectively, and electrically connected to semiconductor element.

Claims

1. A storage medium with built-in antenna, comprising:

a semiconductor element including a communication function for sending and receiving a signal to and from external equipment via an antenna coil;

a circuit board on which the semiconductor element is placed;

a first magnetic layer and a second magnetic layer disposed sandwiching the semiconductor element and the circuit board;

the first magnetic layer and the second magnetic layer being larger than the semiconductor element;

a first antenna coil disposed on the first magnetic layer; and

a second antenna coil disposed on the second magnetic layer;

wherein the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil are connected in parallel on a single flexible sheet, the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil being folded at a side of the first magnetic layer and at a side of the second magnetic layer, respectively, and being electrically connected to the semiconductor element.

2. The storage medium with built-in antenna coil of claim 1, wherein the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil have a same number of windings.

The storage medium with built-in antenna coil of claim 1, wherein the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil are wound in a same direction when seen from each face in a state whereby the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil are folded at a side of the first magnetic layer and at a side of the second magnetic layer, respectively.

4. The storage medium with built-in antenna coil of claim 1, wherein the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil formed on the flexible sheet protrude planarly in one of two, three, and four directions with reference to an area where the circuit board is placed, and are then folded.

The storage medium with built-in antenna of claim 4, wherein the circuit board is formed of a base material separate from the flexible sheet, a wiring pattern being formed on at least both faces of the circuit board, the semiconductor element being placed on one face of the circuit board, and an electrode terminal for connecting the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil being provided on the other face of the circuit board;

and

a connecting terminal is electrically connected to the electrode terminal, the connecting terminal being provided in the area of the flexible sheet where the circuit board is placed and connecting in parallel the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil.

6. The storage medium with built-in antenna of claim 5, further comprising:

an external connecting terminal on the circuit board for connecting to external equipment, the external connecting terminal being used for sending and receiving a signal to and from the external connecting terminal to the external equipment by means of a contact method.

The storage medium with built-in antenna of claim 1, wherein the flexible sheet is integrated with the circuit board on which the first antenna coil, the second antenna coil, and the semiconductor element are placed, the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil protruding planarly in one of two, three, and four directions with reference to the circuit board, and are then folded.

8. The storage medium with built-in antenna of claim 4, wherein the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil have multiple coil patterns, the coil patterns being connected in parallel to each other, and folded to configure the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil, respectively.

9. The storage medium with built-in antenna of claim 4, wherein the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil have multiple coil patterns, the coil patterns being connected in series to each other, and folded to configure the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil, respectively.

The storage medium with built-in antenna of claim 5, wherein the semiconductor element is configured with a semiconductor chip having at least one of a communication function for sending and receiving a signal to and from external equipment via the antenna coil, a memory function, and a control function for controlling the memory function.

11. The storage medium with built-in antenna of claim 6, wherein the semiconductor element further comprises a communication function for sending and receiving a signal to and from external equipment via the external connecting terminal.

12. The storage medium with built-in antenna of claim 1, further comprising a casing for covering the circuit board and housing the first antenna coil and the second antenna coil.
