Abstract

A mobile terminal and a method of controlling operation of the mobile terminal may be provided that include outputting a sensing signal corresponding to a detected attempt to make a call, connecting the call when user input indicates that it is allowed to connect the call, and if the user input indicates that it is not allowed to connect the call, shutting down the detected attempt. Accordingly, suspicious operation that may have been caused by a virus may be shut down to prevent damage to a mobile terminal caused by a virus.

Claims

1. A method of controlling a mobile terminal, the method comprising:

outputting a sensing signal corresponding to a detected attempt to make a call from the mobile terminal;

connecting the call when a user input indicates that the mobile terminal is to connect to the call; and

shutting down the detected attempt to connect the call when the user input indicates that the mobile terminal is not to connect the call.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein outputting the sensing signal comprises outputting one of an on-screen display (OSD) message, an audible sound and a haptic effect.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising quarantining a file that corresponds to the detected attempt after shutting down the detected attempt.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the detected attempt is an attempt to make an international call.

5. A mobile terminal comprising:

a wireless communication unit to connect a call; and

a controller to detect an attempt to connect a call from the wireless communication unit, the controller to output a sensing signal based on the detected attempt, the controller to determine whether the mobile terminal is to connect the call based on user input, and the controller to either connect the call or to shut down the detected attempt based on a result of the determination.

6. The mobile terminal of claim 5, wherein the controller saves a file corresponding to the detected attempt in a quarantine area after shutting down the detected attempt.

7. The mobile terminal of claim 6, further comprising a memory that includes the quarantine area.

8. A method of controlling a mobile terminal, the method comprising:

detecting a suspicious operation of the mobile terminal;

shutting down the detected suspicious operation;

saving a file corresponding to the suspicious operation in a quarantine area;

performing a virus scan on the saved file;

classifying the file based on a result of the virus scan; and

displaying an icon in a quarantine display window indicating a result of the classifying.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the suspicious operation includes one of an attempt to receive a file through a short-range communication, an attempt to activate a short-range communication mode without a user'"'"'s permission, an attempt to switch from one operating mode to another operating mode without the user'"'"'s permission or an attempt to generate more messages than a reference value within a predetermined amount of time.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein the suspicious operation comprises an attempt to enable a short-range communication of the mobile terminal without direct input from a user.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein the suspicious operation comprises an attempt to make a call from the mobile terminal without direct input from a user.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein classifying the file comprises classifying the file as one of a safe file, an infection-suspicious file or an infected file.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising displaying virus information regarding the infection-suspicious file or the infected file when an icon corresponding to the one of the infection-suspicious file or the infected file is selected by a user.

14. The method of claim 12, further comprising executing the safe file when an icon corresponding to a safe file is moved from the quarantine display window.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising displaying a message regarding whether to execute the infection-suspicious file when an icon corresponding to an infection-suspicious file is moved from the quarantine display window.

16. The method of claim 12, further comprising displaying a message regarding whether to delete the infected file when an icon corresponding to an infected file is moved from the quarantine display window.

17. The method of claim 8, further comprising saving a newly-added file in the quarantine area.

18. The method of claim 8, further comprising displaying an icon corresponding to the file saved in the quarantine area during a quarantine inspection mode.

19. The method of claim 18, further comprising displaying an icon for choosing the quarantine inspection mode on an idle screen.

20. A mobile terminal comprising:

a display;

a memory that includes a quarantine area; and

a controller to detect a suspicious operation of the mobile terminal, the controller to shut down the detected suspicious operation, the controller to save a file corresponding to the suspicious operation in the quarantine area, the controller to perform a virus scan of the saved file, the controller to classify the file based on a result of the virus scan and the controller to display an icon on the display indicating the result of the classifying.

21. The mobile terminal of claim 20, wherein the controller classifies the file as one of a safe file, an infection-suspicious file or an infected file.

22. The mobile terminal of claim 21, wherein the display displays virus information regarding the infection-suspicious file or the infected file when an icon corresponding to the one of the infection-suspicious file or the infected file is selected by a user.

23. The mobile terminal of claim 20, wherein the controller displays an icon corresponding to the file saved in the quarantine area during a quarantine inspection mode.

24. The mobile terminal of claim 20, wherein the suspicious operation comprises an attempt to enable a short-range communication of the mobile terminal without direct input from a user.

25. The mobile terminal of claim 20, wherein the suspicious operation comprises an attempt to make a call from the mobile terminal without direct input from a user.

26. The mobile terminal of claim 20, wherein the controller executes a safe file when an icon corresponding to a safe file is moved from a quarantine display window.

27. The mobile terminal of claim 20, wherein the display to display a message regarding whether to execute an infection-suspicious file when an icon corresponding to an infection-suspicious file is moved from a quarantine display window.

28. The mobile terminal of claim 20, wherein the display to display a message regarding whether to delete an infected file when an icon corresponding to the infected file is moved from a quarantine display window.
