Abstract

We have disclosed a modular personal network (MPN) that includes multiple devices that may be worn, carried, or used in close proximity to a user. The devices communicate wirelessly. Functions of the MPN may be modified by adding or removing components. The MPN may communicate with a personal computer. General purpose devices may include a control unit, a display, a user input, and an audio output. The MPN may provide a variety of functions, including time, communication, entertainment, organization, guidance, athletic, medical, travel, outdoors, identity, security, and military.

Claims

1. A display system comprising:

(a) a plurality of display devices in which a first one of the plurality of display devices differs from a second one of the plurality of display devices, and

(b) a mount on a user'"'"'s body that can be reused with any one of the plurality of display devices and that allows said any one of the plurality of display devices to be repositioned in a variety of viewing positions on the mount.

2. The display system of claim 1 wherein the first one of the plurality of display devices differs from the second one of the plurality of display devices in color.

3. The display system of claim 1 wherein the first one of the plurality of display devices differs from the second one of the plurality of display devices in functionality.

4. The display system of claim 1 wherein the mount comprises a hook and loop type of fastener.

5. The display system of claim 1 wherein the mount comprises a non-toxic adhesive.

6. The display system of claim 1 wherein the mount comprises part of an article of clothing.

7. The display system of claim 1 wherein the mount comprises a wristband.

8. The display system of claim 1 wherein the mount comprises a partial glove.

9. The display system of claim 1 wherein the variety of viewing positions comprises a plurality of viewing orientations.

10. The display system of claim 1 wherein the variety of viewing positions comprises a plurality of mounting locations on the user'"'"'s body.

11. The display system of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of mounts, wherein each one of the plurality of mounts is individually used to attach the display unit to the user'"'"'s body, and wherein the user can choose among the mounts.

12. The display system of claim 11 wherein at least two of the plurality of mounts differ in color.

13. The display system of claim 11 wherein at least two of the plurality of mounts differ in style.

14. The display system of claim 11 wherein at least two of the plurality of mounts differ in the location on the body on which they are used to attach the display device.

15. The display system of claim 1 wherein one of the plurality of display devices further comprises a wireless receiver, wherein the wireless receiver receives information to be displayed by the display device.

16. A method of providing a flexible display:

(c) providing a mount to be worn on a user'"'"'s body;

(d) configuring a plurality of differing display devices;

(e) configuring the mount to allow any of the plurality of differing display devices to be easily attached to the mount;

(f) configuring the mount to allow any of the plurality of differing display devices to be repositioned in a variety of viewing positions.
